i was looking at this this http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/367332 and was thinking could you use a sgfc to root clones and would that effect your cakes

I think he's talking about some type of fruiting chamber used for mushrooms. Possibly wondering if you could root clones and grow cakes at the same time with out any negative effects to the cakes.

People over-emphasize the importance of humidity when rooting clones. You can easily root clones in low humidity with an aero-cloner or even rockwool cubes, the humidity just allows the plant to keep from drying out and lets it foliar feed while not having roots, and keeping it in a high humidity environment doesn't necessarily encourage that, moreover it allows it to happen. When rooting clones you are essentially trying to force the cutting to produce roots to survive. It is about finding the balance between providing moisture and oxygen to the area where roots will form versus giving it to the leaves, which will allow the cutting to survive a longer amount of time. Anyways, a SGFC will keep a good RH for your cuttings to survive for an extended amount of time without roots, but that is the easy part of the battle.

sweet thx im new to growing trees i have i have like 14 bag seed plants going right now just practice till i can germ my mandala safari mix i read this site all day now ive tryed like hella ways to clone but my shit keeps drooping down and dying so idk wtf is the problem but imma keep trying this is harder than growing shrooms imo but thank u

so what do you do? just cut them, dip them and then stick em in the rockwool? with an inch of water in the black tray?

I first trim up the the prospect on the mother plant.
Once I remove it I stick it in a B-1 solution until I get all my clones clipped.
Then I just take each clone from there and dip it in rootech then into the rockwool cube then instantly into the inch of water.
I change the water everyday and I also use a heatpad.
About a month ago I made a post about trying this technique. They where placed in a dome but clones I made later that weren't in a dome rooted faster.
Soil and rockwool both work this way.

The video where I learned this just clipped them and placed in rockwool. No rooting compound or anything.
I just know its better to use the stuff so I do.

That is a much better way of saying the point that I was trying to get across . I have 100% success with my aero cloner in a low humidity environment. I take the cutting, then make another cut taking off the last 1/4 inch of stem under water to ensure there won't be an air embolism, then dip in clonex, remove excess gel, then put in the aero-cloner. I will mist them once every couple days to keep them from drying out too fast.

Not to nit pick any ones techniques but if you say you still go back and mist them once in a while to prevent them from drying out why not put a lid on it and walk away? I guess I would rather know they will be fine if I can't get to them for an afternoon then try to shave a day off an already quick process.

yeah I've seen a lot of people use that with good results. What do you think the difference is between that and superthrive? I'm not going to out to buy that any time soon, but I'm wondering if I could get the same results with some superthrive.

I prefer using SuperThrive over B-1 myself.
I work with both and don't really see much differences between the two tho.

I feel ya, but I really don't have to mist them at all. I used to never mist my cuttings in my aero cloner and still had 100% success. Now I grow some other things that benefit from constant misting so since I have a spray bottle in my hands more often I hit my cuttings in the aero cloner with a spray say once a week. If I were using rockwool cubes I would probably use a humidity dome but the aero cloner is so effective it really isn't necessary.

Oh and regarding the Superthrive and B-1 - Superthrive as I believe is derived from amino acids and other vitamins. I do not even know if it has B-1 in it, but probably does. I also have Super B+ which is mainly B-1 and would use it first to help a stressed plant or after late transplants. I also have Superthrive in my arsenal, but would only use it as a last ditch effort to help a plant stressed badly. I would really avoid feeding Superthrive or Super B+ or any of that stuff to a flowering plant. They smell awful and I have heard that they can leave buds tasting bad even after flushing.
