So, I'm assuming a bunch of you know my story from the other threads you've been helping me in, but heres whats up for those of you who missed those
Due to recent changes in my life, I have a newfound "fuck it" outlook. I used to have a handful of responsibilities and things I cared about too much to grow. Now its all gone, and I'm willing to risk going to prison (not that I want to, but now I'm the only person I'm responsible for, so I'm ready to go!)
Anyways. I plan on starting only a few seeds at a time - my lighting and space are limited for the time being (future grows might get my whole closet, but I wanna get some experience before I go nuts).
I've got some seeds coming in the mail from a generous donation
I have purchased a bag of Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil, as well as the liquid Fox Farm soil nutrients trio. I'm also waiting on them to arrive.
I plan on vegging under CFL's until the plants are the size I like them, and then switching to my 150w HPS for flowering (prolly with a few CFLs on the sides.)
I'm going to start the seeds off in your common 16 oz party cup, and then move them to a slightly bigger container after two weeks, when I will be introducing them to the FF Ocean Forest soil. I'm not sure what I'll start them in...coir is all I have on hand, so if thats not a no-no, I'll do that.
Things I need to pickup (mostly a reminder for me)
1. Wall timer 2. Bigger pots 3. One more power strip 4. Perilite to mix with the soil 5. PH test strips
Anyway, I started my log today, because I began the first stages of getting it ready. I painted my cabinet (which I have been using for my cacti for the past few months).
I've gotta say - WOW! The white paint REALLY, REALLY made a difference! I can already tell its like 10x brighter in there!
BTW, in the middle, I have an option to have a shelf in there. I think I'll go with that until the plants are too tall :] Less light lost in a big area. Strangely enough, the middle section that you see (the bar that goes across) was already painted white...makes me wonder what grandpa used to use this for before he gave it to me We'll never know.
Edit: Sorry for the cellphone quality...I'm charging my camera now. I always forget

I'm not really ready for trying scrog. I have a friend who has a few grows under his belt...and hes real good with stuff like that. Hes away at school until the summer time, but I'm sure when he comes home he'd be willing to help me with that! So, next time
Also - I have power strips, which I plug my CFLs into directly. I have nails every 4-5 inches up both sides and the back to mount the power strips on. I can adjust them as I need to

Woop! Got my soil in the mail today...mom gave me a "you growing fucking chronic?" question as soon as she saw it...said yeah...she said "Haha, I hated that damn skunk smell before. Let me know when you start to get some buds, so I know to buy some damn air fresheners".
I was gonna tell her, but she figured it out on her own and doesn't care. Sweet!

She used to be nuts about it, but I'm almost 20 years old and I believe I have proven myself responsible enough with it.
She knows its not when I'm smoking she comes home and finds all the doors and walls broken from a rampage lmfao. She used to ask me to drink instead, but I have alcoholics in my immediate family, and she sees its much better for me to toke, so yeah, I'm pretty lucky

I also germ'd some Troublemaker x White Widow for a mother plant...more popped than I expected. I have 4 of those now. That makes 7 plants total...I'm going to leave them in the coir for two weeks...and, after two weeks...I'll thin the herd and hope the ones I thinned were males...
I really only wanted 4 plants total (3 to grow and bud, one mother) but it looks like I got 7.
Betsy, Jenny, Ivory (ak x diesel) and Robin, Willow, Bambi and Melody (TM x WW).
Go girls, go!

Although I've never really done any serious growing, I've always germ'd my seeds (then fucked up, forgot about them, etc.) but I have always, always, always used the paper towel method.
I dunno. It just works, every time for me
An older friend of mine grows like 50 plants outdoors every year...he told me he gets straws and staples them to a board, and labels the board with whatever bag he had, and drops the seeds in until the straw is full. Sounds good to me.
I'm gonna go melt a bunch of snow and save it up in gallon jugs to water my plants with. I heard they love it...and theres a ton of it out there. And, I have a bunch of gallon jugs. Woo! How long will water last for, if its sealed in a jug?

Turns out 5 gallons of snow melts down to only two gallons Ah well...theres plenty of it out there...
Anyway. Most of my girls have broken the soil now. It looks like Betsy is in the lead, but Ivory is a close second (shes just as tall, but hasn't opened her leaves). The others are just breaking out now. They go to sleep at 2, and its 9 now.
I counted my ladybugs. I have 5 :3

My babies are a week old today. Some are seriously slacking...I might thin the herd soon and pray I only killed males...
Question. The auto-flowers seem to be doing fine...however, the other strain (troublemaker x ww) are stretching real bad and flopping over. I buried the stems and moved the lights closer (3 inches CFL's) and hoping that helps them out.
I'm thinking of maybe doing 24 hour lighting for the next few days, so I can get them off to a nice start.
Also - I fed them 1/4 strength Grow Big today. Maybe that will help too.

Today I have one confirmed female (but damn its small ) and its Betsy, my best looking plant! Woot!
Jenny is a fucking mutant for some reason. I looked up reasons for plant mutations...maybe I fed her too early I'm still not sure of her sex. Hopefully female as well.
Ivory is way behind. I also have a WWxTM that is about on par with Ivory, and a straight TM that just cracked the dirt.
I'm running the lights 24/7 now, with a few hour long bursts of the HPS (simply because I'm working on controlling the temperature with all the lights on at once).
As soon as Jenny shows her sex, I'll post pictures.

Well, just checking back in. I'm sorry for the lack of photos - its all due to my camera being dead and losing the charger, as well as my paranoia
However, tomorrow will be the 1 month birthday of my most successful plant...I'll post a picture of her tomorrow. At this point in time, I've moved her and my unknown sex WW x TM into the closet under the HPS. Still 24 hour light.
Still really hoping the WW x TM is a female...I'd really, really like her to be a mother plant. I can't even believe how fast its grown. Shes only about 2 weeks old, and is already a big bush
I have 2 other stragglers I started late, since I lost a bunch of my seedlings from too much light :P I guess I'll post their pictures too, but they aren't anything special. YET.
Anyway - pictures tomorrow! Promise :]

An update, as promised. Again, sorry they were so slow. Also, important questions at the end!
First we have my favorite lady - Betsy. Shes one month old today, and one of the AK x D autoflowers. Shes getting pretty smelly, and still has a lot of time left
Next up is Ivory, my second female AK x D. She showed her sex today, so I can guesstimate that she is about 16 days old (thats how old Betsy was when she first showed sex). Transplanted her this morning into a bigger pot.
Next up is Sandy, who is only 2 weeks old. She is a Troublemaker. Doing nicely...the last plant I didn't have in a bigger pot, so I moved her over this morning as well. Hoping shes a female so I can use her for clones.
Finally we have Robin...Robin is ONLY TWO WEEKS OLD (no shit!). She keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger I can't have her much bigger than this, so I decided to change her time to 12/12 now. I cut some clones that I'm hoping will work out, so when I find out if shes a female, I'll have some leftover to make a mother out of.
As you can see, Robin is a bit sick. I'm not too sure what this is, but I'm sure one of you guys will know what it is, and what to do. Thanks for any help you can offer.
One final question, perhaps the most important. I planted Robin in some very, very, very cheap soil. I "didn't want to waste" my FoxFarm...now I'm realizing that was fucking stupid, and I should just go for it and use it up - thats why I bought it.
Trouble is, shes in the biggest pot I have for her. I'm not sure exactly where her roots end...I can't just drop her into a bigger pot with FF in it...so, how do I get her out of this shitty soil, dump it, refill with FF and put her back without hurting her? She hasn't been in this new soil for more than like 4 days, thank god.
Is it possible?
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?
Well, I feel really bad...because the donator of these seeds simply asked for a grow-log in return...which I have been neglecting
I feel really bad...its just...ya know...
So, heres some zoomed in pics from my loupe. Apparently, the camera sees it differently than the eye...because I see it a lot more zoomed in
Ah well. They still came out badass. These are from Ivory, who is 2 weeks behind Betsy...but she looks like she ended up aging faster.
So, from what you see there...would you call the trichs milky, or clear? I can see them closer, but I can't really tell. I assume I'll be able to tell milky from amber, which is what my main concern is anyway.
