Kinda creepy, sounds like when I had a level 4 mushroom trip! Little too intense.
Anyhow besides that intresting, jsut dont think I could handle listening to this under the influence of shrooms, when I was high though this sounded kinda trippy as fuck.

Its a little too trance for my taste, and once again its a little too intense. Also, I think that your adding too much, you know, like, less is more kinda thing.

Right on Dr. Siekadellyk!
I liked the beginning of the "Sounds of the Uknown", but after the intro, it gets pretty bad. The first one, "Boggle", I didn't like any of it. Sorry, its too simple.
But, you did remind me of my before days when i used to make FL Studio tracks....And I remembered the perfect one for the Growery!
^The song up top called "Da Super Bong Song" was made after an stoned idea I came up with, which was a "smart" bong that talked to you, like a robot and could do things like weigh the weed in your bowl, analysize the bud in the bowl and determine its THC content and even the strain it came from. It could also do automated stuff like run a vacuum to take the hit for you, switch the bowls automatically (when they are cashed) in a revolver type set-up. I thought of it as a circle of 5 bowls which you could load all at once, and you could rotate thru manual (with a trigger) like the barrel ammon chamber on a revolver pistol but smoke out of one bowl at a time. And then in auto-mode, the "Super Bong" would sense when a bowl has gone cashed, and cycle threw the next one, either randomly or in sequential order....
Some day, I'll make a bong as advanced as that, and the song I uploaded would be its theme song.
Anyway, more about the song. I actually made it *WAY* back when in high-school (about 7 years ago) in FL Studio 5 and its still on my laptop. And ever since I found your thread, I have been spending the last 4 hours finilizing the track because the original it didn't have an ending: it was just a loop.
I think the ending turned out pretty nice....its completely different than the original. But damn, I'm pretty surprized at myself this time with this entire song because I gave up on FL studio because I was terrible at making music. I think this track is my exception...

Oops, I messed up.... The track I uploaded in my last post had a layer muted in it. And it wasn't amped up. I kinda rushed it. But I fixed it this time.
^At top of this post is the FINAL version of "Da Super Bong Song", that's all amped up and all fixed up. Enjoy!

It MIGHT be because they are WAV files? I originally saved them in mp3 format but for some reason it sounded shitty, so I changed em to WAV.

Hey Cthulthu, try converting them to Mp3 at 32 0Kb/sec., It almost sounds like .wav....And yes, those files are in Wav (its default for FL Studio), and the rate of Wave is 1.4 Mb per second, so files get really huge, really fast (but damn they sound Sooooo Goooood...)
I have that track I uploaded at 320Kb, and its sounds almost like the original ".wav" version....but if the song is 6 minutes or more, you'll have to use between 192Kb-220kb. I wouldn't go lower than 192Kb/sec: that'll cause some sound quality problems.
>>> If you need a audio file converter, try downloading this free program called Switch Sound File Converter
Its the best audio converter I've found on the internet, and its perfect for things like uploading songs to Growery. Actually, that's the only thing I use it for because I like to keep all my songs in Wav....there's just no substitute (unless you have a full-on studio with 48,000Khz vinyl-quality capabilities).
Hope that helps. If you need help running the program interface....I'm here to help.

Yo Doc,
Your work sounds pretty epic, but where's the beat!? You gotta drop that beat, bring it back and forth. If you bring a dance beat or hiphop beat to that melody you could have ONE SWEET PIECE. You gotta have that beat, I'm kinda losing you in those ambient electro-sounds.

I drum so I kinda hear beats all the time n when I do this I like to mess with the synths n effects to fulfill my needs of other sounds beside drums,,, but ya ill make some beats after I finish this and get used to the software, I just wanna keep this one experimental, original, and most importantly, TRIPPY.

That's right, you do play drums. Well, try puttin a basic drum track down (like a verse, chorus, verse, chorus type thing)and then you could add fills and changes once you become more experienced with it. and then add all of the synth sounds you're playing with now, after you've got the basic beat down. I would think that would be the easiest way to go about it. Everyone has different methods though
build that shit man, with those synth sounds, you can really make the listener visualize a journey in their heads almost. up, down, all around...dude i'm inspired. where's my les paul?

I think dark and depressing better describes Dr.'s ambient tracks than "creepy". Believe me, I've heard creepy (dark psy-trance) and Dr's stuff gets close, but no where near "real" creepy.
But I prefer more upbeat ambient, that's positive and puts me in a good mood. And even when its ambient, I have to have *some* kind of percussion track, even if minimal and "downplayed". Without it, it just sounds "empty". So Sorry Dr., I just can't get into your homemade-stuff.
But it doesn't matter what I think: the important thing is that you're enjoying your new hobby and that you enjoy what you've made. None of our comments should tell you otherwise.

Yeah I like ambient music like "Tangerine Dream", even dark ambient like Lustmord it doesnt make me feel depressed though , But everything I make wont sound the same so keep checkin in and giving me opinions, I finally sort of learned how to use automation and mixing, so lets see what comes of that, but like I said after a few more tracks, ill drop a kickin beat with some wobble bass. I appreciated it maaan

Not too bad: I Liked It! But it could be better.....
Some Suggestions:
I think you should put some "reverb", "chorus", or even some random "echo" effects on the percussion, especially the Hi-Hats. The hi-hats seem a little to dominate over the main dub-bass melody, so toning down the treble on those hats would make it sound nicer. If you need help with making dub effects, I got ya covered.
Also, a nice, long mid-to-high pitch dubbed-out ambient melody pattern would go nice ov er the dub-step melody. Not necessary, but I think it would add some depth and character to the track.
Overall, I like it much better than your last tracks. But, could you make it longer, even by just 1 more minute. I want to hear the track E V O L V E......

I felt lost most of the time. Most of it sounds like it would make good video game themes, but the overall vibe I got from it was pretty spastic.
I dig that sound totally, but it is really hard to move from any electronic experimental/ "oh shit I don't know where I am" sound to anything hiphop or with a solid rythm.
Try coordinating the synth with a solid steady beat BEFORE moving to a hiphop style.
Otherwise, totally dig your style. I just want to give constructive criticism. I wish I had FL studio...

lol, thanks but I dont like hip-hop at all, Its all experimental, although the last one has more of a Dubstep feel due to the bass wobble and beats that I added becuase everyone at the shroomery was bitchin that I didnt add percussion...but ya I definitely dont want anything to do with hip-hop Im also trying to learn to use compression n stuff, so the next one should sound like it has more depth to it... tho Im glad it made you cuz thats kinda what I was shootin for...
Im still messin around trying to figure out how to use all the functions,... dont expect singles .
whatever I find that sounds good to me ATM I keep and tweak it, ... but Damn do I like Synthesizers

I have to say, this is my favorite ambient track for you yet. Kinda reminds me of the artist zer0 One, just without the back-beat.
I like the fact you moved from "dark", "depressing" to more "spacey", and "introspective", like a robot in deep thought. Nicely done!
My favorite part is at 2:24 when the synth enters: sounds like an awesome intro to a craZy psy-trance song....maybe DoItAgain can mix it into his psy-trance songs and make a ambient-to-psy-trance hybrid track. Up to you thou!
In short, my favorite ambient from Dr. Siek. Could be kind and add an ambient beat to that track? Just keep the beat simple, subtle, and minimal, and I think it will stick to your ambient theme.
To Dj Avacado
I know this is a late reply, but the comment you put: was that on my track "Super Bong" or on Dr. Siek? I ask because the comment sounded vague, and since we both posted songs with beats near the same time, I'm confused on who's track you were talking to.
I'm guessing me because the respond line has my name.
One more thing: Are you actually a Dj? What do you spin? Do you play at raves? Hip-Hop concerts maybe?
Let me know, when ya can.

I was talking about Doc's music.
I'm not a professional DJ...I learned scratching and beatmatching on a shitty pair of Stantons...but then I sold them. Mostly hiphop, some trance, some FL studios a while back.
I'd really like to get a nice setup, cdj tables is what matters to me. I don't have skills enough to be professional, but mixing is not my first musical venture....

Well, I haven't listened to your new one yet, but here's my comments for your second new one which I forget to comment on.
"Revelations"
Start to 0:44 -> Too weird for me.
0:45 - 0:59 -> Good sounds
1:00 - 1:12 -> Sweet Drums and percussions
1:20 - 1:45 -> Didn't like the synths. Too dark/generic for me.
1:46 - 2:00 -> I liked the weirdness.
2:00 - 2:08 -> Sweet Psy-esque build-up.
2:09 - 2:55 -> Not too bad Jungle/DnB?
2:55 to end -> Sweet ambient ending.
Overall, I enjoyed the complex drums/percussion, and some synths, but most of the synths sounded too harsh and "generic" for me, like Industrial music.
I listen to your new one now....

Wow, that "Condemned" track is the most depressing, dark ambient track I've ever listened too. And I thought zer0 0ne was weird! This takes it up a notch.
It sounds like a world after a nuclear war, with no life left. If I wanted to have a bad trip on a psychedelic, I would just listen to "Condemned".
But, thats what you like making. I like happy, uplifting, "spiritual" ambient, so it would be wrong of me to condemn you for making dark, depressing music, so I won't.

ahaha. thanks a lot you for your time and kind input THC.
I actually dont perceive the dark ambient as depressing, I see it as discovering mysterious new territory, weird trippy feeling... I like it... to each their own...
I will start a different ambient project soon, ...

Cool, I'm glad you took my comments as not a bashing, but just my opinion on how it sounds to me....

Pretty cool the youtube vid. Reminds me of the video game Perfect Dark. Mostly because of that creepy vibe I get from it.

You made a new track....and changed your logo thingy...I have been good a long time!
That new track is the most depressing thing I've heard in a while. Sounds like a robot just about to commit suicide.
HOWEVER, between 1:55 and 3:12, I really like....like trippy, space atmospheres, weightless bodies flying into space, free from the harm of the Sun's intense energy...
But, the other parts are just too harsh/depressing for me. But thats just my opinion. Its not bad music, its just not what brightens my day, music, ya know?
I've been addicted to SoundCloud for awhile now, and I've heard some amazing music over there. There is SOOOO much music there, its crazY!!!
Thats why I haven't been here: too much SoundCloud.
But I love it...Just How I still Love Mary Jane

Oh yeah, about the jail-time....
Well, at the moment, my lawyer is sending in requests like a "Motion to Suppress" paper for my initial searching of my car, which he thinks, was done illegally by the Cops (I agree). SO, that takes time. Weeks, in fact.
Really shows that weed-charges are low-priority in PNW huh?
So, I'm not out of the rough waters yet, but it looks pretty good from here. I'm hopeful for a good outcome, with little/no jailtime. Gotta stay positive right?
Well, I'm glad you liked my opinion Doc. It was a little harsh, but I feel I should be honest: makes for a better, more balanced opinion.
Anyway, gotta go to sleep. I'm working again, and I need rest!

Thanks Boon,
I will definitely need that luck for the upcoming month when that m-2-s paper goes thru.
And yes, I do know my rights now: cops cannot search a vehicle without proper reason ("Can I have my Ticket now and be on my way? I'm late to the rager."), its best to stay silent before and after being arrested ("I refuse to lose, officer"), and most importantly, don't incriminate yourself()""What do you mean officer, I have no idea how the pound of weed got underneath my hood. I must of hit it couple miles back.") This includes carrying digital/physical evidence on yourself, and saying more than you need to ("Yeah, these photos, my friend took them. I'm just holding on to them.")
Next time I know better. First thing I got to remember before I drive again in that state: make sure there is nothing inside the car that *looks* illegal.
In my case, the main reason why they searched my car, according to one of the reports was that I had Altoids inside a plastic baggie that looked a lot like Ecstasy pills. according to the report.
Can you believe it? I put those in that baggy because I was using the container for my L and I didn't wanna throw away the altoids, so I put them into a baggie to protect them. And thats what gave them reason. SO dumb, was I. I forgot to think with cop-eyes. I know better next!

Soo, being a dumbass Ive been working on a project for the past month or so and it was coming along nicely and I was near finishing so i exported to WAV and opened a new file so I could just see what Ideas come to me without the clutter... but then I accidently saved and overwritten that file on my original FLP file so the project I was working on is now gone.
I do have a WAV file of what I had just before this happened and Ill work that into something but I just wanted to mention that so if anyone knows a way I could get it back It would be appreciated because I was only about 75% finished and I wasnt done mixing yet...

Its not there, at least I cant find it,, the whole thing is that I didnt delete it, I overwritten it so I dunno if its even possible to get it back or if it destroyed the data where the file was or if it moved the data or what.

Cool, what kind of music are you interested in making?
I recommend changing the default skin (the look really makes a difference imo)
I also recommend getting a few non fruity synths but That freeware synth looks korny...
Fruity Sytrus is beast I love it! Some of the others are good as well.(Included in FL)
If you dont know the basics of sound generation yet then I recommend reading a little because it will really help you make certain sounds you might be lookin for instead of using presets...
post anything cool you might make here so I could check em out... Soundcloud helps with that.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice
I have these books on PDF right now: Electronic Music - Systems, Techniques, and Controls by Allen Strange Hewitt - Music Theory for Computer Musicians (Cengage, 2008) Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music-Miller Puckette Composition_for_Computer_Musicians Composing Digital Music For Dummies
Any specific ones you would recommend?
I will be working on this on and off, I just need to open my wallet enough to let myself buy a good keyboard controller to get a little more serious.
Also The Korg Kaossilator Pro and Koasspad seem like they could keep me occupied for hours.
But as to your question "Cool, what kind of music are you interested in making?"
I figure I will do what comes naturally, I'd like it to be semi-danceable but also play on the senses as much as possible. This is really just a jumping off point, I know a lot of really talented guitarist and drummers, and I'd like to collab with them and make some good music, and most of these guys aren't really pro's when it comes to computers and such.

sounds good, I actually dont have any books, I use google and just read from there, plus listening to A LOT of music all the time and just messing around with the software helps...
Kaos pads looks awesomely fun Ive never tried one though, the kaossolator is more of a synth and the kaos pad is more of an effects processor, they even have miniature ones for cheaper.
once you learn the basics of the software, and understand a little on how music works, ideas will flow. youtube has Hundreds of FL studio tutorials that are very helpful. heres a few pages. http://www.youtube.com/user/imageline http://www.youtube.com/user/nfxbeats http://www.youtube.com/user/AcePincter
Then you could collab with your friends and record some of their instruments using the Edison plugin if you have mics. then add your own stuff too it, like an electro acoustic band... that would cool.

I've learned a lot about the programs functionality, the hardest part is still the musical side of things. I may have something up in a couple days if I can avoid distractions.
Overall I'm liking this a lot though. I needed an outlet and I'm a pretty shitty visual artist.

Thanks mucho.
My problem is my ADD. I'm the kind of person who has everything going at once and takes awhile to get shit done without motivation.
As long as I feel like I'm improving constantly I will keep at it.

I have like 6 big projects open. too ocd to finish them, I need feedback cuz I dont have studio monitors to check the levels of sound correctly, but they sound good in my opinion, hopefully I could get somethin up soon.

Here's an awesome series on the basic theory of Subtractive sound synthesis that I've been reading lately.

Well I finally ended up saving enough extra $ for a small synth/MIDI.
The Novation X-Station
I like it... I got it for under $200 used on ebay.
I'll be doing more stuff since it's gonna be changing to winter soon and I've also learned quite a lot of things since the last post.
Heres one for now... Ambient/Krautrock style.
Trying out Reaper also ATM...

I've played around with that novation unit you posted. I love how you can manipulate sounds and make it all glitchy and thangs. It definitely feels good man to make sounds good mans
