The Right Light for Vegging

Yesterday I ordered a Homebox S (http://www.homebox.net/dhtml/product_family_homebox_s.php) to get some clones going and then veg them. Then once I'm ready, I'll either get another Homebox S or move them outside if it's time to flower them.
Anyway, my question is: what kind of lighting setup would be best to veg 4-8 plants? A combo of normal fluorescent and CFLs? A 250w HID with some side fluorescent or CFLS? About how much will each of these options run me?
Thanks a lot! -Peace & Love

technically a metal halide is best, but CFLs or normal T-5 fluorescents in the 6500K light temperature range work wonders in my experience

Any idea know about how much a 250w HID costs?

the second one is 400 for about the same price. What're the dimensions of a homebox again? I would almost always recommend the 400W over the 250 if you can keep the temps down

Ehh I think I'm gonna stick with a tube(T5?)/CFL combo to save money for a 400 or 600w HPS when/if I get a flowering tent.
