How important is humidity?

My humidifier went ape shit this morning and is no longer working and there's no way i am going to be able to buy a new one tell the beginning of next month. I read somewhere that having a bucket of water under your light with a fan blowing over it will raise Rh but even with that i can't get it any higher then around 35-40. I know this isnt the best but exactly how bad is it? Thanks

During the seedling and vegetative stages, higher humidity helps keep foliage healthy and can be beneficial.
During flowering, humidity around 30-40RH is ideal. Lower humidity = more trichomes and less chance for mold.
The humidity in my veg closet is the same as my flower closet (ranging from 35-45RH), and I don't ever see any detrimental effects. Every couple of days I will spray a mist of pHed water into my fan to mist the foliage and help them from drying out too much. It really isn't that important though.

Humidity will also increase your chances of getting female plants, from what I've read.
It's not overly important though I've noticed. I don't regulate my humidity very much and my plants are fine.

So low humidity or high humidity increases females?

High humidity during veg will make the plants healthier, ergo you have higher chances of getting females. During flowering, I think you wanna keep humidity relatively low due to the threat of mold.
High humidity levels also keep spider mites away.
