1st Time Grow - Are my seedlings okay?
    #358223 - 02/05/10 08:28 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

I have a hydroponic set-up and planted seeds from a seedbank on 1/30.  I just noticed one of my seedlings (labled #2 in pics) is yellowing around the veins.  What is this indicative of?  Too much heat?  I have 6 seedlings about 4-5 inches from two 42W CFL's. Temp fluctuates between 75-85 degrees and 30-40% humidity.  I have a fan circulating air in a 4'x2.5'x5' closet space.  See pics.  Any help and/or pointers greatly appreciated.

You should be fine, BTW if that is a set-up from stealth hydro I just want to inform you that those tubes leading to each individual pot clog and badly, to the point where I had to just rebuild the whole thing on my own.

I would say that looks like a N deficiency in #2.  put those lights as close to those little seedlings as is allowable, use the hand method.  I take it you haven't feed those seedlings any nutes yet?  I dont remember mine ever showing def. signs so early on.  They look pretty good though.

Thanks so much guys.

This is a stealth hydro set-up.  Thanks for the heads up on the clogging issue, Shroomjew.  I suspected once I got the system there would be some necessary maintenance I would need to keep up with. I had some successful mushroom grows and when I began  my research into marijuana cultivation, I was a bit overwhelmed.  The ease and relative straightforwardness of the kit gave me the courage to give it a try. So far so good, but now I am beginning to get into the science of my grow and thank God for you guys and the Growery is all I can say!!

Once the seeds sprouted I added the nutrients for the vegetative stage that came with the kit as directed.  I've been checking the Ph daily and it has been steady between 5.75 and 6.

Are the two 42W CFL's enough light for my space? Is there any benefit or downfall to switch up to an HPS at this point?

Thanks again

You would want to switch to a metal halide bulb in an HID system.  The color spectrum of the HPS is more suited for flowering as it's more of a red color and the MH is more of a blue spectrum.  As for the CFL's i'd say ditch em if you have an HID set up and dont mind the added electricity costs.

The nutrients are pretty good by the way but I always add a little superthrive for safety of N.
