My brother got a Christmas cactus after my great great grandmother died.
Anyway's he slowly killed it for about 5 years to where there was only a couple little wilted leaves left in a pile of rotten ones.
Luckily I managed to revive it!
This may be stupid but I kind of feel a link to my grandma through this 100+ year old cactus.

that's great, i'm pretty sentimental about my plants too... and you've got quite a reason! looks like you did a great job!
i got a piece of this kind of succulent from my old neighbour just before winter, it's still sitting there freezing it's ass off but surviving, in the first week it took out one flower that refused to open, i thought to take it off so it could focus on rooting but i didn't have the heart to do it.
