Treating your mothers bad (cloning)

Hello! it's me again!
Is it ok to put your mother under fluo crappy lights to save on electricity? Since it would be actually good if it didn't get too big and it won't be growing bud I just want it's genetics....but could genetics be affected by such poor growing conditions? (I will never make it flower, just veg).
The idea is having a (not so good maybe?) SoG on the side of my original, good grow...a nice grow with big plants of different strains once in a while for quality and to try to grow the best possible weed, and a perpetual sog just to have weed every two weeks, good quality but I won't care too much. The clone would be for the SoG (which I would try to SCRoG too, just to maximize yield). I will only do this once I have a couple of succesful grows under my belt of course. Thanks

I asked this same question a week or so ago and Coda told me that the genetics would not be affected. I will be keeping some bonsai mothers under 2 42 cfls for space and electricity concerns and then I'll use a 400w HPS whenever I want to grow some more bud.

All grown exclusively under T-5 flo lighting, all very happy, does that answer your question?
Top plant is my mom (after a nice haircut). She grows so quick I have to constantly trim to avoid burns from the lamp. In fact I just removed a TON of growth from her today because she got too big.

Why yes, yes it is She loves my plants, every time I go near that room she comes galloping in. She actually snuck in my veg cab with my back turned and got locked in there for 2-3 hours.

Do you mean keep a mother in a hydro setup?

Boy i wish that was the case, she'll chomp the shit out of some plants if you don't pay attention. She already mangled two of my LA Conf x Skunk babies. Eaten her fair share of Sour D fan leaves too.

yea, keep a mother in a hydro setup.
basically trimming off the roots. I just don't have the experience to know how a plant reacts to that?
Honestly enough I've never been able to keep any houseplant alive...EVER!
I am horrible at gardening... And I am hoping to change that. (putting some TLC into my babies)

I've never kept a mother using a hydro setup (or soil! I'm pretty new to growing), but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. Root trimming might be a little easier, but transporting her would be a bit of a hassle(I think). I plan to use soil for my mothers(bonsai), just because it's less expensive to maintain and if I have to move anywhere I can easily transport them.

There's a nice guild to maintaining a bonsai mother.
