Topics with more substance ...

That's right - a lot of the topics around here lately have been lacking. Why is this? Sure, we all like to talk, but this forum isn't really for idle chit-chat. There are places like IRC and messengers for that.
With that being said, let's talk about our favorite movies of all time:
One of my personal favorites is The Andromeda Strain. This is a movie from the early 70's, but I enjoy watching it every time I see it. Also on my list is the complete Planet Of The Ape set and the complete James Bond set.
What are some of your favorites?

OK so ... where is everyone? This place is so dead lately!

Female Trouble - the title alone makes it appealing. I shall read up on that one.

Falling Down has always been a favorite.
Das Experiment, the German flick inspired by the Stanford Prison Experiment is also really good. Much more violent and depraved than the real experiment, very dark movie.
5th Element, UHF, Pi, lots of good ones out there.

So many great actors in it, too. Even that black guy, Micheal Richards!

Some good ones: Trainspotting, (novel is better) The Commitments (never read the novel) Stand By Me (one of my all time favourites) A Clockwork Orange (novel is better)
if any of you will spend time looking and watching one, foreign films like Keller, and Show Me Love are good.

And for modern movies, how about I, Robot? I can watch that one many times as well.

I like the Fresh Prince!
For an ambient trip-film with no dialogue: Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of Balance
Quote:
Source: [wikipedia]
...a 1982 film directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by minimalist composer Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke.
The film consists primarily of slow motion and time-lapse photography of cities and natural landscapes across the United States. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor a vocalized narration: its tone is set by the juxtaposition of images and music. In the Hopi language, the word Koyaanisqatsi means 'crazy life, life in turmoil, life out of balance, life disintegrating, a state of life that calls for another way of living', and the film implies that modern humanity is living in such a way.
The film is the first in the Qatsi trilogy of films: it is followed by Powaqqatsi (1988) and Naqoyqatsi (2002). The trilogy depicts different aspects of the relationship between humans, nature, and technology. Koyaanisqatsi is the best known of the trilogy and is considered a cult film. However, due to copyright issues, the film was out of print for most of the 1990s.

Good movie, but it still pisses me off to this day that they left the last chapter out of the film's storyline. One of my favorite books tho, I went as Alex last Halloween.
Didn't like Bladerunner for the same reason, need to quit reading the books first.

So this means we'll never be able to see this trilogy?

And I forgot to mention Pulp Fiction - another great movie for its time. Talk about scenes being out of sequence ... this one is for you.
