Barney's Farm - Red Dragon (fem) 100% Organic
    #338617 - 01/01/10 08:16 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

I'm starting my 3rd grow now after having a rather successful grow last round with some bagseed and a Barney's Blue Cheese that really turned out well (please let me know if you'd like to see any pics from my previous grow!)

Barney's Farm has a lot of excellent strains that i plan to work my way through in the next few years along with others.  Check out this grow which has just reached day 17 from seedling.  There are 5 plants:

3x BF Red Dragon (fem)
1x bagseed
1x Mr.NICE Dreamtime (reg)  -this was left over from my 1st grow

Here's some specs on my setup followed by the latest pics of the plants from a few days ago.  I also now have 3/6 plants LST'd with the other 3 getting tied down this evening as well...

Growspace:  spare bathroom (flowering may be moved to grow tent)
Medium:  100% Premiere HP Promix
Light:  400w MH with an HPS conv bulb for flowering later on...
Nutes:  Adv Nutrients - Org Iguana Juice GROW, BLOOM, Nirvana, molasses

On with the pics!

Day 16 of Veg [Re: Dayzt]
    #338735 - 01/02/10 01:58 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Picture update

- 2/3 Red Dragons have been LST'd, 1/3 was topped.
- The bagseed plant and the Dreamtime plant were also LST'd
- In the pics, you can see the front 3 plants were LST'd 2 days ago and the back left one just this evening before the pic was taken.  The Red Dragon in the back right was topped and I kept the top in some soil/water in a plastic container with a bag over-top (back far right in pics)

Enjoy! :rasta:

Day 19 of Veg [Re: Inverted]
    #340458 - 01/04/10 10:35 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Picture Update

- all the kids are looking like they got a 'slap in the face' a bit from that recent round of toppin'n'tiein...lol.  Growth in the past 3 days has been slowed, but they appear to be getting a bit bushier again now.

- I'm in no rush with these, so I'm prepared to give them as much veg time as needed.  There may still be some 'choppin' coming in the next few weeks as I think i'll be trying to get a few clones this time around.

- The pics are in the same sequence this time again, with two extra pics of one Red Dragon with an interesting 3-pair node thing going on and another pic of my topped plant which now sports 6 flower sites of potential tops!

Enjoy! :leaf:

Day 22 of Veg [Re: Dayzt]
    #342865 - 01/07/10 11:16 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Yesterday, the plants hit their 3-week mark since seedling.  Since they've all been through the LST and topping, I think they are still a bit mad at me...lol.  But they're all still looking very healthy!  There's some yellowish leaves on the bagseed plant but they're just from below the branch that I tied down so they should have been trimmed anyway - i'll take care of them once there's a bit more room in there to trim.  I'm not sure if my clone has taken root at all, but i'll give it a bit more time before I check and plant it in a pot - can't see much inside the container it's in since the stem on that cutting was very short...

Well, on with the pics!  Not tons of change since last update but it's been 3 days so again i'm keeping up with the same progression pics. Enjoy!  :gethigh:

Thanks shrooms!  Yeah that bagseed plant is the biggest one at this point for sure.  That was seed that I found in my stash a few months ago from some decent mystery weed.  It most likely was grown close by me so I'm guessing that's why it's faster since it's in close to the same 'climate' as it's parents.  The other ones are all imports - Dutch seed companies.  :gethigh:

I've attached a layout of my plants for everyone so you can tell which plant is which at this stage.  Once they are put into flowering (probably in about 2-3 weeks) they'll all get personal names - that way it will be easy to track them right up until smoke-time and I can look back at their development and see what exacted was done to each one.  I can get more experience that way and adapt some specific ideas for future grows. :leaf:

Okay, here's the update!  Everything is up and running now under the 600w in the new tent!  The ladies are all nice and comfortable in their new 3 gal pots and have perked up a lot since last night's feeding.  I'll be watching them closely now that their relocated - It's the first time i've put anything in that tent so I hope it's going to be okay!

Here's some pics of the plants and one of my setup - enjoy!

Week 4, Day 5 of Veg [Re: Dayzt]
    #349954 - 01/18/10 11:51 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Here's the pic update - decided to get it done this evening.  I'm happy with how they are starting to respond now - they seem a lot more comfortable with their new home! :leaf:

There's a single pic of each plant and a group shot, plus an extra one at the end, top down of the exotic looking Red Dragon with the sets of 3 leaves.  Nice and green! =)

Week 5, Day 5 of Veg [Re: Dayzt]
    #353341 - 01/25/10 11:00 PM (15 years, 27 days ago)

Well, i'm approaching the 6 week mark which is where i'd planned to switch the plants over to 12/12. They look like they should be ready by then, but I may wait until the weekend to switch 'em all over.

Each plant is still looking really unique and the rest of the journey will be quite interesting to see which ends up performing the best!

On with the pics!!

6.5 Weeks Veg - Starting Flowering [Re: Dayzt]
    #355762 - 01/30/10 10:02 PM (15 years, 22 days ago)

Ok - well i'm now at 6 and a half weeks of veg for these girls and they're on thier last light cycle now, with the timer set to turn off the lights at 7 am tomorrow morning.  Just before 7 pm tomorrow night i'll remove the ducting from my cooltube and change the bulb to my HPS one for starting flowering!

Night-time temps will have to be monitored closely now since no light means no heat, and my basement isn't super warm... we'll see.  I bought a small space heater today so I can always set it up near my intake fan and have it suck warmish fresh air into the tent during the dark cycle so it doesn't get too cold.

Here's a pic update.  The first two are groups shots and then there's a pic of each plant with the last pic of the biggest red dragon in the center - looks exciting already!

End of Week 1 of Flowering [Re: Dayzt]
    #358837 - 02/06/10 11:52 PM (15 years, 15 days ago)

Okay, the girls all got food and water tonight.  I'm trying out using distilled water since I've never really tried it before and would like to compare it to my previously pH'd tapwater.

Half strength bloom nutes and Nirvana went into the 2nd and 3rd 5 litre buckets of water they received this evening.  The first 5 litre bucket of water was just straight water - didn't want to apply nuted water to the dry soil...

The pots have all been now moved down off of the styrofoam pieces now as well.  I bought some nice 14" plastic saucers with 1.5" lips on them which should work well enough to catch water that goes through the drain holes.  It will be nice to have when flushing time arrives too.

Well, here are the pics since feeding.  I was going to wait until tomorrow night but had time to do it tonight so got it all done.  There's a group shot, 1 of each plant, one of the nutes i'm using and a few of some trimmed leaves I took as well.  Enjoy!

Week 1 Day 6 of Flowering [Re: Dayzt]
    #363559 - 02/13/10 12:37 PM (15 years, 8 days ago)

Here we are nearing the end of week 2 of flowering.  The girls have grown quite alot this past week, stretching out as expected.  Bud sites are showing more and more hairs now as the buds begin to form as the stretching slows.  They will all get straight water tonight, as they haven't had anything for close to a week when thier first 1/4 strength feeding was.  After this straight water feeding, i'm going to try and start feed/water every 3-4 days as they begin to require more moisture and can use the extra bloom nutes.

For those just joining or who may not have read this journal from the first page, please note that the 2 back plants are not Red Dragon, only the front 3 ones.  The two back plants are a bagseed plant and a Mr.Nice's Dreamtime.  The bagseed plants was never looking that great - started out okay but is looking kinda pale.  The buds are coming along nicely however and are looking to be a quicker finisher than the dragons.  The Dreamtime plant is showing similar characteristics to the other 2 Dreamtime plants I grew in my first grow - not a real pretty plant, having straggely thin leaves and not really impressive growth - but the seeds were very cheap and NOT feminized.  All 3 seeds I got from Mr.Nice ended up female though, so I'm not complaining!  The plant is a lot more healthy than it looks...the others just kinda put it and the bagseed plant to shame with thier fancy genetics!

Pic update - enjoy!!

Updated Layout [Re: Inverted]
    #364928 - 02/15/10 08:11 PM (15 years, 6 days ago)

Thought i'd put this up here so everyone knows who is who at this point.  The girls have moved around a bit since my last diagram so this is just a pickup reference for this point in the grow and to familiarize those who may be just joining in on this grow journal.

The two back plants have now been named:

Dreamtime - "Nails" - This plant is stragly but amazingly strong and healthy also!  It's super tough looking so that's how it got that name.

bagseed - "Mercy" - This plant was actually the biggest one at one point in veg - then it kinda went yellow and stumpy on me for a while.  I almost got rid of it at one point but showed it 'Mercy' and she's really rewarding me for it so far!

The Red Dragon plants have no specific names yet, but here's some collected info on each:

RD #1 - This is the best looking plant i've ever grown - just great looking leaf structure and overall beautiful to look at.  Buds are just starting to form and lots of pods are showing and look to explode at any time...this one will be a joy to watch for sure!  The main top held some interesting groups of 3 at each node up until now as it's splitting off as it matures and single-leaf nodes are appearing.

RD #2 - This plant was topped to create 6 nice tops and just tonight had 4 of the tops tied back a bit to help spread it out more.  There's a lot of nice buds forming in the center of this plant that I'd like to encourage to reach up higher through and join the main canopy.

RD #3 - This RD was LST'd early and is now reaping the benefits as it's spreading out more and has many nice bud formations!  I tied back one of the branches a little bit to encourage it to spread out a little on the opposite side of the direction it was tied down.

Picture Update - Start of Week 3 of Flowering [Re: Dayzt]
    #365059 - 02/16/10 01:26 AM (15 years, 6 days ago)

I took some pictures tonight right after their foliar watering. The next 'feeding' will likely be Thurs or Fri of this week depending on how light the pots are by then.

Notice in these pics how i've been thinning out the canopy a bit and spreading the plants out as much as I can to take advantage of the light as much as possible. I also tied back 4 of the branches on the topped Red Dragon in order to let more light into the center of the plant and force it to grow 'out' more and spread out as it grows up - note pics of the tied down branches.

Enjoy!!  :bigblunt:

Starting Week 4 of Flowering [Re: Dayzt]
    #371219 - 02/22/10 09:41 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Well, here's the latest on the Dragon ladies! Lots more white hairs coming in - the middle, most exotic looking one is the slowest one to burst it's hairs and is still not really taking off - something tells me she'll go the longest...

The bagseed plant and the Dreamtime plant are both coming along nicely but the others are much nicer looking at this point.

Here's the pic update! Enjoy!

Here we are at the end of 4 weeks in flower.  I had a few problems with over-nuting but I think the last straight watering has brought it back under control.

End of Week 5 of Flowering [Re: Dayzt]
    #379758 - 03/07/10 11:57 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Week 5 of flowering is now over - here's a quick picture update. I didn't post seperate pics of each plant, just a few group shots and some closeups as well as some different tops showing special characteristics among others. Lots and lots of white pistils everywhere and the buds are starting to bulk up as well.

- I'll be giving them a straight water feeding in the next few days - they're still a bit heavy from the last feeding so i'll see how they feel in the next few days as it's now been almost a full week.
- The past feeding seems to have been a little too much again - lost some more foliage to yellowing and crispy leaves, but nothing disasterous.
- The bagseed plant is pretty yellow now, but the buds are still looking nice - bulked up well and very sticky!
- The Red Dragon plants are all smelling sweeter every day. The stems near the tops all give off a very sweet smell on the hands.

...enjoy the pic update!!
