I've needed to use a ridiculously lot more Ph Up than ever before and was wondering whether this was normal...does the Ph up degrade over time or something?

If plants use water faster then the nutrients in the water the ph drops.

ok sorry...i think i need to explain the situation better. I am running run to waste 12 liter pots of coco....when i started...i would only use a very small amount of Ph UP to get the Ph to around 6 from 4.3 or so. Now i need to use a shitload more to get it up to 6....i was wondering why it lost its potency.

I believe that direct lighting is bad for Ph up and down, similar to nutrients being exposed to light for long periods of time. Is it exposed or do you keep it in a heavy-lit area?
Or... depending on the current stage of growth of your plants you may simply be using a lot more water than nutrients, like Magash mentioned
my 2 cents.

I think he hand waters his pots which means he mixes up a new batch of solution each time he wants to feed.
It's possible you hosed your PH up. Have you tested the water before adding in solution, then afterward to see what the Ph difference is?
