Economics of Edibles?

Is making edibles really economical? I mean, the threads I've read say you need a 1/4 oz of bud makes like 5-10 doses. I can certainly get stoned more than 10 times by smoking it, so it doesn't seem worth it. Am i wrong?

That's what I'm saying. I just don't see the purpose of making edibles. I have also had tons of treats and have never once felt anything like the effects of smoking a fatty bowl. Actually really no effects at all. Seems like it'd be less work and same result to just throw your weed away...

There's a market for edibles. So people find ways to make it economical. cheaper ingredients, making super sized batches and so forth. Imo its an entirely different type of high and a lot of medical patients can't smoke and prefer edibles once or twice a day over vaping every few hours.

Yeah, there's definitely more science to cooking with herb than smoking it, but I can get about 12 doses out of a 1/4 oz, and one dose will easily take me through a whole night out rather than having to smoke every couple hours. And DS is right, its a different experience. I love edibles.

You can make like 20 dank cookies from an ounce of mexican brick weed. Getting high 20 times for around $50 is good. In terms of selling though, people don't want to buy edibles as much. Its also hard to sell b/c the dosage is difficult. Some people have a higher tolerance and need two or whatever. I would not recommend making edibles out of anything that is worth smoking. You are better off smoking it from a bong or vapeing it if you want efficiency. In Cali i get ounces of leaf garbage for $25 and that is what I cook with. In New Orleans I get mexican at $50 and ounce and cook that up.

i dont think anyone makes edibles when they're trying to make money. either they're hooking you up, your friends or ripping you off.

the only real market i can think of would be medical patients.
recreational smokers are still going to want the satisfaction and onset speed of smoking. edible mushroom treats though.... mmmmmm can't beat 'em

This is true. I know when I was in CO last I met this old hippie guy and he and his wife make edibles for dispensaries and they can't even keep up with the demand.
