Here is a link toTux Guitar.
It is an open source free program, it is java based. Guitarpro was just having issues so I found this, and for my purposes I like this better.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.

911 tabs looks at several databases. Some harder to find tabs that I haven't found on Ultimate Guitar have turned up on 911. I always use 911, they have a larger database. To me larger database = better. But thats just me.

911 looks at several databases, does that make it a search engine for tab databases? I am assuming what he said above is true for this to be true though. I usually just use things in guitar world.

To bad sheet music does not tell you what position to play the note in.
And all instruments that have tabulator have it for a reason, because it expresses the music better than the alternative.

Besides most programs show both standard notation and tab.

and translate one to the other.
Plus it lets you play it with a different % of the tempo, and even have it increase tempo by a chosen % until it reaches a terminal % of the tempo.

Nothing wrong with reading tabs, its a good way to begin to learn how to read music in standard notation. I would say it is reading music, it is just not standard musical notation, its guitar tab. Learning standard notation and theory is pretty crucial though.

people don't read sheet music naturally. it might come easier to some people, but thats only because their smarter. music theory is something a person learns. one could learn it through book or listening and interpreting VARIOUS types of music.
it might seem it comes naturally to people. but no, those people are just smarter

i agreed with everything you said until that last sentence. it can help out a lot, but it's not important as everyone seems to think it is
