I just wanted to introduce myself to this wonderful forum.  I have been lurking here for a little while, and was convinced by someone in the Shroomery to finally sign up.:grin: I've been  :gethigh:  for the last decade, but have always rented and have never had the opportunity to grow my own.  I do have some experience in hydroponics though and there's nothing like fresh peppers and heirloom tomatoes in the middle of a MN winter...:cool:  I'll end my first post with a question, and a little video.

I am in the process of buying my first home, and would like to do a small stealth grow, maybe in a closet, when I finally get a place of my own.  I have a home-made aeroponic system in a Rubbermaid tub with room for 8 plants, and a 1000W HPS lamp.  I am thinking that the 1000W will be too warm to put in a closet.  Am I stuck buying a smaller lamp, or can anyone think of a way to utilize a 1000W in a small stealth operation?

Welcome!

Definitely buy a 1000Watt with a reflector that has air vent flanges built on the sides. You could also buy a cool-tube. As long as you have ventilation for that thing and good vertical room, I think you'll be fine.

The main purpose of my post was just to introduce myself.  I guess the question I asked should have gone to the cultivation forum, but I am still months away from being in the position to grow, so I just thought I would throw it out there see if anyone had a creative solution.  I already have the 1000W HPS, and my reflector does have air vent flanges.  Guess I will have to do some research on the cool tube...

I've always grown in rentals, just pay your rent on time and most landlords leave you the fuck alone.

If it already has flanges don't worry about the cool tube. The tube's reflectors aren't the greatest. So long as you ventilate that thing, I rekon a closet would be just fine. :smile:

hmmm...  I'm in my late 20's, like to party on the weekends.  Hobbies include gardening:smile:, Frolf, Brewing, Skiing, Boarding, Fishing, Fooseball, Poker, Darts...  I'm sure there are more, but i'm too high to think of them all.  I've always wanted to grow, but never had the guts to do it with the remote chance that the landlord could stop by to do some maintenance or something.  I would like to give it a shot after I have my own place.
