I love them. This is the first one that you are greeted with when you enter my home. You will have already passed some outside. I also like to use them around my plants for humidity.

How does it affect the humidity? Do you have a picture of a fountain used in the grow room?

The moving and falling of water will help raise humidity levels.

I totally will if I come across the right supplies and have some spare time, I already have a few small silent pumps that I used for PC watercooling and I have lots of tubing and fittings and reservoirs, all I would need to do was build the part for the water to flow down, I could probably do that with a bunch of flat rocks and some sealant of some sort...
hmmm pondering now to another hit

Me too man, it's like staring at a bonfire. It's the same thing over and over but slightly different nonetheless, which allows me to be entertained for an extended period of time with basically nothing.
Thats a cool one, but one of the sweeter ones I saw recently was like a giant old black ceramic vase of sorts. Was the shape of an urn, but about 3 feet tall and glossy black glazed. It was filled w/ rocks, or at least appeared to be, and out of the rocks at the top opening (which is smaller than the base) the water seemed to be coming out of the ground (the rocks) and flowing over the sides and down the entire outside of the vase. It was trippy as hell, but very simple. One could easily make one for around 30-40 bucks.
Nice!
It looked similar to this vase, but all black and glossy.

That's one of the things I can set my alarm clock on for "soothing sounds" to help go to sleep. I never use it, too annoying with sound when you're tryin to go to sleep.

You should. I have a bunch of them and don't have more than $5.00 in any of them. I've got a little junk shop nearby that the owner of really hooks me the fuck up all the time. I have maybe $3.00 in the one above and have seen one almost identical in a drug store for $69.95. I've got a large heavy square stone one with a steel grate that hold rocks that I'm sure sold for around $125.00 and I only have $5.00 in it.
A couple of my fountains I made using pumps from ones I didn't like. I just picked up a pump from the same shop for $1.00 that is much stronger than any of my others. I sat it in a bowl of water and it pushed a 1" column of water about 5' up. I'm thinking on that one as it's capable of doing a lot. I'll probably use it outside as I have about all the running water sound that I want inside.
I also have two much larger waterfall type pumps that I'm going to do something with.
I picked up some very bright color changing LED boards that I removed from some 75% off Halloween leftovers. They may end up combined with a fountain pump for something striking.

Should be easy enough to find a free download. Set up a tape recorder near some train tracks or something. The little micro ones I have include a sound activated switch. Your desire is easily fulfilled.
I love that vase Inverted.
I think my next outdoor one is going to involve one of my three bird baths. I also have two old hand well pumps begging to be made into a fountain. I've also got a garage sized hill on the edge of my back yard that I want to make a series of waterfalls on when I get around to landscaping/sculpting it with a gazebo on top for a fine view. Maybe feeding a small creek going under a little bridge and feeding a small fish pond on the other side of my rear driveway. My yard is already on what is nearly the top of a hill as it is. I've already got a pump large enough for the project yet quiet enough to be silenced if I put it inside of the hill by making a cavity for it. I've even got a roll of buriable 12/2 electrical cable, a couple of rolls of black liner and tons of free granite. All I need now is motivation to get of of my ass and do it.
I'll also have to relocate my shooting range. There is a shit load of lead in that hill. I don't think I'll be growing any edibles on or near it.

The great fountain shortage of 2009. There will be none for Christmas.
I want to fill one with gasoline and set it on fire. Sounds like a plan.
Fill another with bourbon and drink it dry.
