Although, his first post does show some soil containers!!
Perhaps he has used soil / hydro for growing plants other than marijuana?
I'm just fishing for more info, as my ladyfriend built an ebb and flow system but has yet to put it to any practical use.

To clear everything up, technically I'm on my 3rd grow. First was my white widow, did 6 plants in my custom dwc tub and 1 plant in soil. The soil one had all kinds of problems, but turned out great in the end. But I went and stuck with the hydro because it was easier for me with my height limits, my plants overall were much healthier in hydro, and I didnt want to deal with always lugging dirt in and out. Now after harvest, I just have one garbage bag of roots, one of all the stems, and about a gallon of hydrotron to wash for the next run. I really just love the simplicity. Then my second grow was the blue kush which made it to 5 weeks flower but was showing a cal deficiency, so without testing to make sure it worked fine, added it to my nutrient soup, and that pretty much killed anything that toughed it within 24hrs. So scrapped and cut it all done, since it seemed like if it did recover, it still would have yielded garbage. Then started the Thirrd one up with an extra large mango clone I was about to cut down before the shit hit the fan.

I forgot to mention that i did really enjoy my soil plant. The taste and smell was initially worse, but after 3 weeks curing was much better than the hydro ones. I was using chemical nutrients until midway through the Blue Kush set, but then switched to organics to see If I could get that better taste and smell from hydro.

I am now 26 days into flower and things are going well. The spider mites are still there and are semi under control. Still having problems getting the N dialed in right as you can see by the lighter green lower leaves. It is improving, but not like I'd like it to. My ph has been really cooperative over the last several weeks and I felt I needed to note that. Where ever I set it, it barely moves over several days. going from 5.95 to about 6.0 takes about 4 days. One thing I wonder about though is I usually have 5 more plants going and my ppms drop like mad. I would put 1100 ppm nutrients in and 2 days later, it would be below 800. now I put my nutrients at 1050 and they slowly climb. Is this a problem? Last res started out at 1050 and after a week made it up to 1200. I am starting to see a difference emerging from the uvb bulb. The ones directly under it are considerably further along in trichome production. Its not the they are more dense, but more so, the coverage is greater. More trichs on the fanleaves and to the tips of the smaller leaves. i actually took the time to crop these pics so you could see the trichs. So, On with the pics.

Lookin' pretty good. With no direct hydro experience, it still seems an odd note on the increased PPM's over time. 
On the next update, would you be so kind as to label two different shots; one from a cola directly under the UV and another from a cola that is away from the UV (but still receiving similar levels of HPS light) ?

are you topping of your res consistently calculated from what your ppms tested as?

Not a problem at all. On this first pic here it is under the uvb.
you notice there is a lot of trichs covering the bud leaves but also popping up on the fan leaves.
then this pic also has good trichs, but more concentrated centrally with the tips bare.
These are not the best comparison shots, but you can see what I'm saying much better on the originals then these resized ones. this trend will hopefully continue and will become more obvious in the next few weeks. Its hard to say if the bulb is effecting the other ones as well, but because I dont know that the range in on one of these and the furthest bud is only about 2 feet away.

I fill the res daily with ro water(7ppm) and check the ppms about an hour later. I have a fairly large pump circulating the nutrients in the res so it gets mixed quickly. And with adding no nutrients and always topping off to the same level, my ppm's raise 20-30 per day, for around a 100ppm increase every 4 days or so. I thought it might be bennificial microbes multiplying simply because it seems the longer its been since res change, the faster it seems to climb.

Water ran through my reverse osmosis filter. Going into the filter, I have a base ppm of 330. After the ro filter, the ppm of my water is around 7. ppm=parts per million
I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question DrSeik. Is there another way to word it so I can try to answer better?

that isnt too bad
but if it gets too high just use more plain water even if you have to lower the solution in your res to be able to fill it up with the water to lower the PPM.

well plants use more water than nutes most of the time thats why you have to add water to keep the nute concentration from getting too strong, but im not exactley sure what other kind of biological thing could possibly be going on but if you are correcting it consistenly and topping off it shouldnt be steadily rising all the time.(how often are you?)
are you still using BC nutes?
because ive had great results with them, no problems?

hmm, ok well then just dont let it get too high, like i said even if you have to drain a little out of the res the be able to fit some plain water in there to dilute the solution a little to make up for the ppm rise.
