Hello everyone this is my first attempt using Aeroponics. Please give me any and all input you have. I made my own system using some basic stuff at lowes/home depot. I will be ordering the beans, light, blower and carbon filter later on today.....any recommendations on a strain? The space is 6x3.

I spent about....id say around 150 for the parts, including tools like a hole saw for 25 god damn dollars lol....and I still have to get the beans for about 70-100 and the light is going to be 200....so the entire thing will run around $500....but I think I should turn a profit plus its a load of fun
still stuck on what strain I should opt for

yep, feminized also....I ordered ak-47 a while back and grew out about 50 in soil....that worked out nicely....hopefully will be able to do that big in a system like this in the coming months....
I NEED strain recommendations for quality and yield, I would like to get at least 6 z's

Ok everybody I have a little update for you......I set up my 400 HPS MH digital air cooled along with a fan and carbon filter. I decided to go with Master Kush feminized from Nirvana. They are in wet paper towels now and will go into rapid rooter plugs before going into the system....more to follow.

Nice, I have some master kush as well, would like to grow it out sometime.
I like the square hydro chambers you got there
Did you buy them or make them? I'm sorry if these questions have been answered already.
Should be some dense heady nugs come harvest!
I'll be along for the ride.

I'm also curious about how you built this setup. Are those square chambers available at your average home improvement store in the plumbing section? also, what diameter are they? I'm assuming those are 3" net pots, so about 4" chambers?
Also, any chance of you getting a pic of the internal plumbing on the chambers/ a brand for your water pump?
haha, you got us nerds all riled up

Hello Gentleman, they are 3 inch pots so the chambers are 4' by 4'. They are also 6 feet long. I am actually going to buy a new pump tomorrow the first one was not strong enough. As far as internal plumbing goes there is just a half inch pvc pipe running along the bottom of the chamber that has holes drilled in with ez clone 360 sprayers. I made the system myself with common stuff from home depot....the rails are called vinyl post usually used to make a fence..now they are going to be used to make something much much cooler lol......
also the last picture on my first post shows the inside plumbing while the sprayer is on, camera isnt best quality though

Forgive me but I don't know much about aeroponics....
is 4x4" big enough to support large plants or are you planning on just flowering while they're relatively tiny? I'm growing some pretty tall plants in 5 gallon containers, and I can definitely see the increase in growth rate that comes from a bunch of root space, but I guess with aeroponics it's a bit different because the nutrient solution is applied directly to the roots, rather than making the roots seek out the pore spaces for water etc.
Would a 4x4 grow plants up to 4 feet tall? or should I consider 6"x6"?

When in doubt, go big or go home Harry...
Why not give em more space and oxygen if you can spare the extra space in your room?

what' your spacing between the different root chambers? it's looking like about 8 between the net pots so I'm going to assume roughly that distance between each row, so I guess I'm just curious what the advantage is for keeping the root space that size and having empty space between them instead of just using all the area possible....

Well I have some spacing so I can allow them to get nice and bushy...and then prune for some nice big colas....
dont worry you will see, and after this im sure your going to make one..you dont get root locked like you do with soil, you can deliver nutes more efficiently and the plants seem to grow much much faster

do you have any issues with the spray nozzles clogging? I'm a fiend for using molasses during flowering but I feel like running sugar through all that plumbing might cause some issues.
sorry for all the questions, I'm a knowledge whore

i had some of the same questions reading through this. I've got a couple of fears that I will keep an eye on while you work this thing out. It looks great! My fears are root restriction and possible clogging of the sprayers (w/e they're called). Good luck! Sounds like a good strain. i guess we'll find out. and welcome to the Growery!
edit: maybe if there was a way you could open the tubes to check and move the roots to one side or the other of the tube. Or perhaps slots in the top that can be removed for access inside.
