I'm also curious about how you built this setup. Are those square chambers available at your average home improvement store in the plumbing section? also, what diameter are they? I'm assuming those are 3" net pots, so about 4" chambers?
Also, any chance of you getting a pic of the internal plumbing on the chambers/ a brand for your water pump?
haha, you got us nerds all riled up

Forgive me but I don't know much about aeroponics....
is 4x4" big enough to support large plants or are you planning on just flowering while they're relatively tiny? I'm growing some pretty tall plants in 5 gallon containers, and I can definitely see the increase in growth rate that comes from a bunch of root space, but I guess with aeroponics it's a bit different because the nutrient solution is applied directly to the roots, rather than making the roots seek out the pore spaces for water etc.
Would a 4x4 grow plants up to 4 feet tall? or should I consider 6"x6"?

what' your spacing between the different root chambers? it's looking like about 8 between the net pots so I'm going to assume roughly that distance between each row, so I guess I'm just curious what the advantage is for keeping the root space that size and having empty space between them instead of just using all the area possible....

do you have any issues with the spray nozzles clogging? I'm a fiend for using molasses during flowering but I feel like running sugar through all that plumbing might cause some issues.
sorry for all the questions, I'm a knowledge whore

the more pictures the better!
what's your rule of thumb on calculating GPH rates for different size setups?

Looking very nice so far man! keep it up
did you mean to say that your light cycle is 16 on and 6 off? did you mean 8 off, or 18/6?

I'm not really sure to be honest, but I would say that your plants look absolutely amazing, so you probably shouldn't really be worrying

those will at least double in size while flowering, but likely a bit more.
rather than pruning the bottoms I would try to direct the branches to grow outward so that they get full light and produce healthy nugs. you still have some space between your plants which to me translates as lost light.

and I also had another question for you. I've been heavily considering building an aero system for my next grow. I'm a huge fucking nerd so it just kinda makes sense to build something state of the art and nifty like this. my hobbies are always pretty weird
anyhow, what's the advantage of growing your plants in the tubes and draining the solution into a resevoir vs a system like this one where the plants entire roots dangle in the solution?
Also, how often do you read your TDS/pH with this system? I've pretty much got it down as far as concerns in solid medium are concerned so aeroponic is naturally very interesting, but I don't want to be investing a couple hundred dollars on meters of various kinds...

I would be STUNNED if you got less than an ounce from each of those. you'll be fine letting them get a bit bigger, but I had a plant my last round about twice the size of those and it yielded 6+ ounces on the one plant.
In the video she just had a rubbermaid tub with aeroponic misters, but instead of draining to a separate reservoir all the nutes are contained at the bottom of the tub and just pumped up to the misters via PVC.

you're exactly right. I was just thinking of building a huge cloner and then growing the plants in it for their entire lives. you make some good points about how it could go wrong though.... I never even though about roots getting caught in the pump.
I'm just basically looking for some sort of automated watering system so that I can leave town and still have my plants be fine without relying on my retarded roommates to feed my babies. I figure if i'm investing in a pump already for an ebb and flow or drip system why not invest in a little extra to go aero?

well I've already got two 600W with air cooled hoods so I'm set as far as the room goes, I'm just trying to figure out a more efficient way to do things. I'm sick of mixing up 4 gallons of nutrients every single day and hand watering 5-gallon hempy buckets. I'll still need someone to look after them and change the res once a week but that's way easier than telling my roommates how to mix up all those nutes every day etc etc.

fucking rad. sorry to hijack your thread so hardcore but you're a very helpful man.
expect numerous pm's in the future I'm thinking about heading to Home Depot today and building myself a little trial cloner in one of those 5-gallon orange buckets

so I was just reading somewhere that you have to flower plants right from clone with an aero system to prevent the roots from clogging the drain towards the end of flowering. have you grown with this style setup before? if so, have you noticed this as an issue?

Why on earth would you ever hack at the roots?!? that's the worst thing you can do to a plant!

well how big were this plants in question? how large was your aero system? can you explain more about the situation so I can see if it's something I should be concerned with? I'm a fan of larger plants so this is something I really want to be informed about.

beautiful fucking plants friz.
would you care to take a picture of your drain setup? and possibly the roots inside the tube also so I can get a feel for how it looks? I'm planning on growing my plants at least as big as yours before I start to flower so this journal is fantastic

oh so there's really no chance of those clogging the drain because there isn't really a drain lol. it looks like the roots are already to the end of your chamber though, what happens then? do they just grow all the way down into the res?

dude you're already WAY past an ounce each. how big is the light again, 400W? I'd already expect close to 2 ounces from each plant....
here's what my last ladies looked like on day 1 of 12/12, about 14-16" tall.
Got over 6 ounces from one plant, and 4 ounces from the other (different strains)
