your personal pref on germination techniques

Tossing around some ideas. I would like to try some different techniques (other than distilled water and paper towels) and document the results in my up coming grow log.
1. Germinate in an Ecovie solution. www.EcoOrganics.com 2. Try 2 different feminizing techniques . One with banana peelings and the other with one birth control pill. I got the recipes off Mel Thomas's book "A complete growers guide". Pg 37 I thought it would be fun to experiment a bit.
What is your prefered technique? Hit me up with comments/criticism. FJ

Well, quite honestly years of trial and error has always brought me back to the ole paper towel method. Seems to be pretty fail proof and seems to give a good germination rate.
As far as your experiments go, they have been done and most of us know the out come, we read the books. What would be cool is to do something that hasn't been done and document it here on the site. Not sure what that thing would be, but i'm sure there are questions to be answered and being you seem to like to try things out, pick one and do it!
So whatever ya do, good luck and happy experimenting!

I always use a paper towel it has never failed me and given me best results.
I dampen some paper towels, stick the seeds between, stick that in a zip lock, and stick on top of a computer or TV that stays on for humidity.

I just drop my seeds into a glass of water, and let it sit in a drawer. Seems to work alright.

Thanks for the feedback. I would like to try some unorthodox approaches.
I am interested to see if anyone on this site has personally tried some different methods.

Me myself I dilute 5ml of super thrive in one gallon of water. I then use that mix to soak my seeds for 24-36 hrs then I plant. I used this method on my last seed order from Attitude and about 25% sprouted the day after planting, and I get more and more seedlings each day.

I've used the paper towel and newspaper method in the past works great.
I have also just dropped them in rock wool and neoprene cubes also works great.
But these days I just drop them in distilled water about 1/4 inch deep in a shot glass, with this it only takes 24 to 48 hrs for my seeds to pop.

This isn't unorthodox, but I scuff my seeds with fine grit sandpaper and soak them in water overnight. From there, the seeds go into rapid rooters, so germination takes place in the soil. Mandala Mike from Mandala seeds details the reasoning behind in-soil germination here.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
That was a very informational article from mandala Ren. I found it especially interesting since some of the seeds I will be germing are mandala's speed queen.
Thanks for tuning in Farmer joe
