I'm sort of falling into the camp of fuck MLB, maybe even professional sports in general, especially if the NFL goes on strike next year.

I dont really like baseball......but the NFL is alright. College sports are sweet but they dont make any money.

Tiexera and Sabathia are the only 2 Yanks I dont hate and that's because they arent really Yankees. They are just amazing players who sold out like that steroid using 3B Alex Rodriguez

you would say to 161 million dollars????? and still get to do what you love. and probably win doing it??? you forget they still have to play...and win. i really dont like the yankees either, but you do have to respect how good of a team they are.

So you think it's fair for the team w/ the most money to be able to buy up all the best players in the world and put them all on the field at once? C'mon man there's NO sportsmanship there, and what is left is thrown away the second they win the World Series for the how many times is it now? Oh yeah so many I lost count. It's not fun facing a team KNOWING you are going to lose. NEVAR!

the red sox have just as much money as the yankees and look what happened to them. and all the times the yankees DIDNT win the world series. now im not saying i like them...but you still have to go out and face professional american league pitching and hit them to make it to the playoffs. if the phillies would get some pitching they might have had a shot. cole hamels sucks balls now and pedro's 88 mph fastball that he WOULD NOT stop throwing last night wasn't exactly overpowering like it used to be.

Yankees spent substantially more than every other MLB franchise this year
I dont blame the players. I blame the sport. And the way they handle the issue of players salaries. Every other major team sport has a salary cap and it keeps teams competitive and keeps new teams in the playoffs.
Baseball it's about the same teams every year. With some exceptions of course.

ive heard it talked about before. but baseball teams have to build a minor league system too. it's not just all about the majors. the more you win, the more money the organization makes. teams like the royals dont get exposure because they dont win. neither did the rays til they started winning. the yankees would still win with a salary cap i guarantee it dude. the twins are winning each year without a huge payroll. what about that? they built a minor league farm system.

LOL, the Yankees have no farm system and they win. They just go out and buy the best Free Agent talent every year.
2009, Yankees had a salary of 201 million
The next highest team was the Mets with 135 million
So they spent 65 million dollars more than the 2nd highest team. Come on. If you don think that is buying a championship, then there is no such thing as cheating in sports.

the players still have to perform. you can go out and buy the best talent yeah, but hitting a 99mph fastball from justin verlander is NOT easy. i played baseball for 10 years dude. hitting is hard. if you hit .250 every year, that's considered average. 250 hits out of 1000 at bats. and mariano rivera came up as a rookie, so did derek jeter, andy pettite, jorge posada, and all those other players they had a few years ago.
im not saying they're not spending the most money out of any team, because they are, and if you get the best talent, you should be able to win, but you still have to go out and actually hit, and pitch, and play defense, and coach the game. like when they were losing at the beginning of the year, they werent doing it then.
if the royals ( or any other bad team) want to play in the world series, they should practice fundamental baseball more and have their no name players be just as good and pitch as good as the yankees. if you ask the other teams, they aren't mad about it, they know they just have to play better. and mark texiera only hit one homer in the world series and struck out a bunch of times. the phillies hit 5 more home runs in the world series than the yankees by the way.

I dont really care to be honest. Im an Indians fan and out of every sport I care about baseball is towards the bottom of the list. Because I dont think it is a fair game
