Bacterial Growth in Reservoir?

My reservoir has a bit of a funky smell. It smells a lot like pond water. Should I be worried?

its probably just starting to then, aerate the water by putting an airstone in your res. nutes sitting in still water will start to smell and grow things like a pond...
is your res. dark inside or can light easily get through?

It's completely transparent, so light gets through really easily. Bad right?

Fuck. Ok then, would buying an aerator solve this problem entirely or should I buy that and a light-proof plastic container? I've seen people do DWC setups with see through stuff but I want to be sure and do the right thing.

yeah the airstone should pretty much fix it... Its just recommended the rez be dark because the light promotes the bacterial growth but as long as its not an intense direct light for a while it should be alright.

I'd get rid of the clear res and get a product called aquaguard from botanicare. This will take care of the problem guaranteed.

I rekon it's an organic anti-bacterial cleaning agent specially made to keep hydroponic reservoirs clean of unwanted visitors.

It pretty much puts in a bacteria that eats the bad ones. Gets rid of the pond smell, root rot, and damping off at the stem if you happen to be starting seedlings.

Hey,
Just to clarify, is it hydroguard or aquaguard? I can't find the product called aquaguard but the company has this thing called hydrocare. Same thing right?

Use to be called hydroguard and now it's called Aquashield. Stoned when I did the first posts.
