HELP MY SOIL PH IS 5.3!!! Turns out ocean forest is 6.8 I transplanted!

Ok I have always watered with 6.5-6.7 water.
I always notice tho that my waters ph when stored goes up as it sits and I have to re ph it a lot.
But my soils ph when I run my watering here with 1000 ppm feeding of grow big ff nutes.
WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
I am about to run some 7.5 Water through it and re ph it up higher and see were the soil is at at that point. then get the ph of the soil 6.6.
WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?

If your soil is heavy on peat it will steadily become more and more acidic...answer mhbound's question.

hey. chill. turn off the caps lock. you're not accomplishing anything. Have you considered that you have a broken pH meter and that you are now killing your plants with pH up?

I hate that pH up and down shit...Try using hydrated lime or something...
I use hydrated lime at a teaspoon a gallon. I water with plain water, then flush with the hydrated lime water a few times then finish with a final watering of slightly fertilized solution, about half strength of normal.
Some say baking soda work but I've never used it

A soiless mix is all I use...Adjusting pH for someone who has never used soil can be a fucking nightmare and once its gone too far its a bitch to get back...You aren't too bad off right now you can still adjust it and I'm trying to come up with the best thing but I'm fucked up as hell and I've never used the soil you mention so I'm trying to read about it.
A quick search on the internet and you can find cheap hydrated lime I wouldn't buy it from a hydro place they will probably mark up the prices trying to make an extra dollar

Wait, I don't understand why you're still boosting it if its at 7. Is that because it'll drift back down again?

It needs to sit for awhile. The soil is saturated to the point it isn't going to absorb anymore its just going to let it run through.
FOX farms is the only soil I recommend...I mean there are others but its the first I recommend.

budmanman, you clearly need to read up on what pH actually is an how it works because you randomly adding water of a different pH value expecting it to work like simple addition is just plain incorrect.
I'm kinda drunk right now so bear with me, but pH stands for "power of Hydrogen" and it's the inverse log of the concentration of Hydrogen+ ions in solution. the issue with H+ is that it's extremely attracted to other ions (because of its positive charge) so unless it has a reason to get removed (ie, an alternative cation to replace it on the bonding site, or an even more attractive cation grabbing medium to coax it off of it's current bonding site) it's just going to stay put.
adding random high pH solution (rich in OH- ions) doesn't sufficiently neutralize the enormous quantities of H+ ions, you need to find something to actually catalyze a change in the overall soil ecological interaction.

once you get going with soil and your using compulsive calculated feeding cycles.. you can pretty much tell when theres a pH problem, eyeball small amounts of vinegar [for acid] and baking soda [for alkaline] :if you use a lil nutes each weak on your plants, and the solution is alkaline.. add a cap full of vinegar to your gallon.
-------------------- "and take me disappearing, through the smoke rings of my mind,
down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
the haunted frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
far from the twisted reach, of crazy sorrow.
yes the dance, beneath the diamond sky, with one hand waving free,
silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
with all memory and fate, driven deep beneath the waves,
let me forget about today, until tomorrow."~bob dylan

and if you're working with baking soda and vinegar you always need to let it sit for a couple hours before you feed it to your plants, and then sit a little longer in the soil before you test the runoff because the reaction is not instant

Not bad...Best response yet but he doesn't really answer anyone he just starts talking to himself I think...Not sure.
Adding something to the soil is the way to go but also a little more difficult if you've never done it so I dun wanna kill his plant in a few hours and it be my fault...

So how much hydrated lime do I use? Per watering? Do I add it to the water or just put it on top of the soil and water?
I only tried adjusting one plant.
and its one that has not done as good as my other mom.
I only know its female from pref flowers.
The weakest of my 5 plants has not sexed yet.
So I got 1 unless with nice mommy. unless it ends up Hermie.

Allow your plants to drain properly maybe for a day and let the pH adjusting take effect and then try the hydrated lime...After doing the lime let it sit overnight and recheck the pH...If you need to do it again then do it again and so on. I would rather have a pH a little too low(like yours) than too high

If you live somewhere that the soil is acidic you should be able to find the hydrated lime locally fairly easily..Or if you live somewhere with a good hydro shop you should be able to find it cheap enough to buy locally since you need the stuff asap

i think budmanman has run enough water through his soil to last a few weeks worth of watering.
to the OP - You need to stop approaching this like a hydro grow. Fixing a problem does not produce an instantaneous result. You need to do what you think you need to do to fix the problem, then let it sit for a day or two, then test again. Otherwise you're just going to kill your plant by trying to fix the problem.

Ok SO i took my 2 moms and took a shower with them
Rinsed off all the dirt every bit I could probably damaged a few roots
and down the drain happy frog went.
Then I transfered to ocean forest.
this ocean forest starts with a ph of 6.8.
after transplanting into new soil I packed it a bit and watered it with 6.6
and tested the run off....
6.6..
Soooo lesson learned happy frog is crap garbage.
maybe you could add 5% happy frog to ocean forest to get the mycrobs growing in it.
But i fear even that much of that ph 4.8 crap will ruin the ocean forest.
This transplant was a good idea rite?

First of all, you can't measure the ppm of soil
Secondly, I hope you didn't damage the roots too much, but if you didn't then your plant should be happy
third, stop being so intense, plants grow themselves, caring for them too much is definitely the worse option

Budman, you started out making me laugh with your spastic intensity, but you just use these forums to ask questions to which you don't listen to the answers, and to type freak outs in all caps. IMO you don't bring anything positive to the community. <ignored>

what will the plant do though if during the transfer the roots were damaged badly.
the only time during transfer that I noticed something bad was when I couldn't get some of the thick dirt to break up and I shoved my thumb into it and I heard a root or few rip.

The side branches are already growing much faster in the ocean forest.
My plants lower leafs have always died off and I am sure it was that unhappy frog soil.
I expect to see much less leaf fall off with this OF soil.
in fact I even transplanted the other 3 plants today to OF.

as you can see my meter is pretty acurate but for some reason anything I ph with it without fertiliser or soil in it the ph always slowly goes down and then normaly stops.
Like it said 7.03 when I first put it in and it slowly went down to 6.98
to 6.89 and then stopped at 6.87..
Why does it do this?
I have only had it for about a month.
I use the storage solution and cleaning solution according to instructions.

Meters suck plain and simple. Your going way overboard. Just be sure the ph of the nutrient is good and you will be fine or you can keep trying futile efforts to keep the ph at the exact same level in soil. Now I do like your results but as you like to say "THE RESULTS CAN NOT BE DENIED!!! "
By the way the stuff used to adj the ph plants fucking hate so give it up bud cause it's not gonna happen. Your never gonna get the ph of the soil dialed in cause ph of soil will change as it dries or as the plants use the nutrients. Water goes down faster ph goes down. Nutrients get used faster ph goes up. You can't do shit to stop this so stop trying.
Try and keep the soil in a tolerated zone. 5.5 to 6.7 wouldn't be all that bad a zone. If your looking for total control the get rid of the soil and go hydro. Only way your gonna do it period.

now I know a transfer to new soil especially if you rinse away all the old soil can be stressful on a plant.
But now the lower part of the plant the older leafs are light green and starting to yellow.
So it seems like a N deficiency but this soil is suppose to be hot.
I watered with 6.6 water no nutes when transferring.
Do you think its doing this cause it needs to be fed?
Or is it doing this cause the roots need to spread through out the new soil?
I mean since the transfer all the root mass is now concentrated down the center of the pot.
Ideas suggestions?

yah, one suggestion
LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE.
There, i said it. Seriously man, give your plants some damn time to recover and establish in their new pots. Smoke a bowl, relax, and give it a day or so before you come back to it again. You're growing in soil, things take more time to adjust then they do in hydro. You go crazy like you just did with the damn PH and you'll just make things worse.

Washing away the soil and breaking roots is probably enough to put it in sock for awhile.
Let it recover for 3 or 4 days.

The best advice is.
Don't fuck up from the start.
Pre Plan all stages. Give ample space. Good soil. Good nutrients. Be sterile. Good genetics. Adequate Lighting NO BUGS NO MOLD NO MIRACLE GROW FOX FARM maybe isn't the best?
*Also look at the conditions of your grow. Your growing in peroxide bottles. WTF. T

So here she is now. Growing slowly but the yellowing appears to have halted.
and here is my other mom just found out she is femail.
as you can see she did not mind the transfer one bit crazy.
still growth is slow for her but I am sure once it can handle nutes again it will haul ass.
This plants shown that its weak from the get go another one also sucked even worse.
it sure did not like the transfer.
