pH, What do You use to Read It ?

I've Been using a Milwaukee digital pen but I have no trust in it after a year.$75 dollars that bitch cost. Its never been drooped or misused and now it has to calibrated before each use. Still don't trust it and that's a pain in the ass.
Got to get another one. So as the thread title said:
What do you use?
What was the cost?
How long have you had it?
Any pros's or cons.
Any other info.
I hate wasting money. I take good care of my stuff and I want it to last.

Ph Test strips, like 4-5 bucks a pack. I'm out now but a pack usually lasts me a few grows. Pros: Cheap, reliable, easy to find, easy to use. Cons: not as accurate as digital meters, can't tell you PPM or EC, you will have to buy more again.

^I use those too. Just your basic litmus paper that reads a range of like 5.5 to 8 (second pic). I've also got the GH liquid test pack (first pic). I used to use (and still have) a digital pen. It worked for about half my first grow. Then i went back to the shop and told them and they replaced it and then that one went to shit and wouldn't stay calibrated. I just said fuck it. I would like to find a digital ph/ppm reader that is just reliable over the long term.

I wouldn't bet money on that. Meters suck.
FurrowedBrow has it right. The drops rule.

Finlly got my pH under control.
The plants are looking much better.
the pool pH tester(left) 6.8, 7.2, 7.5, 7.8, 8.2
The pH tester(right) 4 thur 10
Next time I go to the Big City will stop by GH and pick up their pH tester(thanks FB). Will also look around for those pH strips.
What do you use to test ppm's?

My one major qualm with drops is that if your test subject (nute solution with h2 anyone?) is not clear, it ruins the accuracy because I can't judge the color change adequately.
P.S. Now that I'm thinking about this, I realize I can just add distilled water to my sample which will not alter the Ph and it might mitigate some of the color problems... Anyone else have any solutions they use?

Why wouldn't adding distilled water to your test sample raise the ph slightly? Or did i misunderstand you? I've got a PPM reader that goes from 0-10,000 (I think). It goes higher than i need anyway, and it's been very reliable for 20-30 bucks. I've never had to recalbrate it after almost two complete grows. Here's the one i use:

Do you know where you purchased that FB?
That's the cheapest digital tester I've seen, been looking into buying one.

For testing my pH is use the less broad of the two I get. One is 1-14 the other is 5-10. or maybe it was 4-8... I don't know something like that.
