 What is the average cost????

I was wondering what the average cost in electricity (for a small grow of 4-6 plants) would be?
I was thinking about getting two of the Sun System 2 fixtures for the grow room. I would use a 400w light in each one. Probably wouldn't run it more than 18 on/6 off.
I have heard estimates from $20-150 a month. My bill generally runs between $100-180 a month, so I don't see how it could double my bill.

My 1000 watt cost $54 a month but the bill went $150 month. I run 2 fans and a/c. The a/c is what cost $'s.

nope, his bill went up by 100 bucks. My ENTIRE setup (fans, fluros, HPS) runs me around 50 bucks a month.
A 600w lamp run 24 hours a day = 14.4KW*h per day. (600 watts/1000 watts = .6 KW .6 * 24 = 14.4kw/day)
14.4KW * .08 = 1.152$ per day
1.152 * 30 days = 34.56$ per month just to run a 600 watt lamp for 24 hrs in a day. Divide that by 1/2 to get the cost for running a lamp during flowering.
Now keep in mind that's just for your lamps. If you want to total the whole cost of your setup you need to find out how much juice your fans and such need to run and follow the same formula. Sum the numbers to get your total cost.

Well since the lights would be the most expensive energy consumer
I figured I would use it as a gauge for the whole thing

Well, in all honesty I can't see the setup costing you more then 50 bucks a month to run. Unless you need to run your AC or an AC unit to cool the room, then it could drive your bill up to 80-100 dollars a month.

^THAT is truth! I have a closet grow in a small (less than 1k sqft) apt. I use two 400w lights using galaxy ballasts. I paid over $100 for my electricity last month. running both lights 12/12. I also had to run my AC last month like 24/7. I bet my ac usage rivaled the light usage.

I recycle my heat in the winter by exhausting back into the house, and my bill drops by almost 130 a month.
My heater hardly ever runs.

In the winter I need a/c and heat. This subtropic weather is karzy.I'm hoping an air cooled hood will help next 1000 watt grow.

I just moved into this place a year or so. I put big a/c's in it(more than it needed) and started my bill around 250 to 300 dallors. Started running lights and turned off uneeded elect. I think the elect co likes my money and I feel safe on one level.
My 1st two months the bill was 150 +/-

I recycle my heat also in the winter. Bills only get expensive in the summer when a/c is needed.
