Music and Money / The future of the Industry

I was thinking a while back about this topic. I mean, imagine there's no money at all involved with music. How much would we have lost out on because of people who just wanted to make it on easy street and happen to make it big with a couple of hits? I'm sure a lot of you hate the music industry as it exists today. Chasing the dollar at the cost of a quality product. What's to stop all these artists from bypassing the middleman, record company executive and go straight to the end listener. I know some big named bands have done this. Is that the wave of the future?

most music nowdays sux because the recording industries want people to put out the next big single hit to make good profit on.....when in actuality most of the talented music is really in the middle of the album where people dont know about it until they check it out for themselves......it all revolves around money some of the most talented musicians in the world arent famous because they cant find a deal with a record company or have money to do it themselves..... thats why I kinda like this song, thats what its about Yall want a single say fuck that!

Furrowed you really need to watch the movie DIG! It's about The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Worhols. I hate the dandies but fuckin Brian Jonestown kicks ass. He doesnt have a record label or anything. You might not like the music but its a pretty good movie. Anton is the lead singer. Hes addicted to heroin pretty extreme.....But its a must watch. It's filmed over a few years. I beleive they are still unsigned. But you will know why after watching the movie. They have it on Hulu so its free to watch. I suggest everyone check it out.

The way music has been corrupted by money is so sick.
Its a factory process now and we have leading manufacturers. They all follow the same sickening formulas.
Its usually either make a rap song about money, hos and cars or get some young girl to sing lovey dovey shit.
Home music producers like me find it very difficult to get into the industry. Nowadays I just give my music away for free. I enjoy making music, I don't enjoy being broke but what can I do?
Have a toon to bounce to:
Theres a few years of my life in that ^

If i could I would put my money on the future going toward home music creation and distribution. I could easily make an entire album with all the instruments used separately mixed together on the computer. Put online and distributed that way. I'm sure there is a company out there that would broker it into retail areas. maybe that's where my money should go. The technology is only going to make it easier and easier to do this. any thoughts?

Go for it, I'm going to make a death metal track myself. Play all the guitars, use a computer for the drums and layer it all up and sing over it.
I am the band
