Harvesting and Drying

Hello everybody, I have a bit of a problem here. My ladies are getting close to harvest, within a week I think, 10% of the trichomes are milky, my weather forecast for the upcoming week is for high 50's and lows in the 40's, chance of rain about 50%, I cut off some mold off a few plants that don't get as much breeze and sun as the others do, and the pistols are all white. I will be out of town Oct 8to to the 14th. I was hoping I wouldn't have to harvest until a couple days before I leave then hang my plants up for the week I'm gone and be back in time to monitor the final few days of drying, before I start the curing process. However, due to the upcoming temps and rain I feel I will have to harvest in the next few days and risk having my plants dry for 2 weeks plus at 65 degrees and 55-60% humidity, without being here to adjust temp and humidity as needed. Would it be better to dry now and then delay the curing until I come back, or hold off as long as possible to harvest and be gone while they are in the middle of drying, or harvest now and take my chances that they won't mold up in jars while I am gone. I am leaning towards a later harvest, and just hope they don't mold up with the cool temps and rain in the forcast. I am interested in any constructive replies. Thanks, CF

you want to wait till most of the trichomes are milky/amber.....but if its going to be about freezing outside with rain and humidity, its a risk...........if your plant is in a pot then you can take her inside for a little while to finnish up......or just cut her down when it starts to get bad out, hang them in a dark and dry area with ventilation until you get back....then start curing when you return you dont want to cut her too early yet you dont want the weather to screw with her
its up to you whether you take a risk or not pix?

Dr. Siekadellyk - i cant give ratings yet but i want to acknowledge your good responses... always nice to have one like you around a community like this.
clownfreak - you cant really judge harvest time by pistal color. its all about the trichromes. Never harvest when trichromes are clear, its a waste and the bud is premature. You wanna wait til theyre either milky for a more cerebral high, or amber for a potent couchlock stone. I perfer a 50/50 mix. cheers. good luck on your harvest.
