I think you meant www.speedtest.net for the link.
My test said .5 mb/s. It's faster than though really. I can tell by using the connection and my own software tells me that the rate is faster. I'm not blazing by any means for sure though. I'm on the outter fringe of a 3G connection.

I don't recall the exact addy but I guess you know by now as I see that you have changed it. The original link that you posted contained a link to a post here with the correct addy at the end of it.
As luck would have it my connection completely failed after making that last post.
I tried a few things but ended up having to reboot the comp itself in order to get a usable connection.
Things are still running less than half of my potential speed. Unfortunately that is not unusual lately. I've been having some problems with it for a while now regardless of which computer I'm using it with.
I don't know if it is a coincidence or not but things have gotten even worse since Verizon bought out Alltel Which is what this was originally.
Since rebooting the fastest speed I have obtained was 918.8 kb/s.
The site that you posted just gave me a report of 790 kb/s.
Pretty slow if you are used to faster but I love it after living with dial up most of the time for about 15 years. lol
I actually used to download whole movies over dialup. Would usually take 3+ days running 24 hours a day aside from when I was actively using the connection for browsing, email etc...
After that, this slower than average 3G feels like lightning. lol Price of living out in the sticks. I used to have to drive 5 miles to town and park outside of a store's hot spot if I needed something in a hurry.
I could do a little better with Satellite but it cost more and doesn't have the advantage of going with me where ever I feel like. I've enjoyed this 3G in such places as on my boat or back in the woods on camping trips and shit like that. I love it.
In the past I've been known to leave my cell phone connected lap top on a weak signal for 2 hours just to collect my email and PMs while sitting in the middle of a lake during multi day trips on my cabin cruiser.
I'm also not a gamer at all so this works fine for me for the most part. I can at least watch streaming video without buffering about 50% of the time. For years I only dreamed of such at home.
No DSL or cable here. Choices are 3G, satellite or dial up only.

Congrats and lucky you. Enjoy it.
Cable goes along the main highway past my road and down the next road that loops back around to my road. The cable ends before reaching me from that direction as well.
It goes all around me but leaves my little section out. Has been that way for 20 years in spite of numerous petitions by those of us on the short neglected stretch. I'm sure it is a conspiracy of sorts.
They claim there is not enough of us for them to invest in laying the line. They travelled the long way around to get to a built up area past us. It would have been shorter for them to have run the cable through our way and they would have passed by more potential customers than they did running it the long way around us and through a desolate stretch where there are no customers and likely will not be for many years to come as most of that property is owned by a single non expanding entity. It's a spiteful conspiracy I tell ya.
Fucking cable tease bullies.
For TV however I am thoroughly enjoying my newly upgraded turbo HD dish/DVR with far more channels than the cable assholes can provide anyway. Fuck em.
I did at least teach many who do live on their route how to pirate the cable back in the day as a means of retaliation for their evil ways.
