First Time Blackstrap Molasses User HELP

About a week ago I added about 16 females to the flower room but this time I'm experimenting with blackstrap molasses. All of them look healthy except one so I pulled out the net pot to check out the roots, and notice they have a brownish build up with a little bit of white that appear to be sugar crystals. My question is... Is this normal? I used one tablespoon molasses for every gallon of mix used. Again the other 15 look healthy but the buildup around the roots is something new for me and I was wondering should I cut back on molasses.

I've used it, but not in a setup like you, I used it in hempy buckets with great results but it sounds like you're using aeroponic or DWC?

I thought the point of molasses was to help the beneficial fungi and bacteria in the soil. i don't really know what it would do in aeroponics except provide a little bit on nutrition.

no it does much more than that. Plants internally produce glucose and sucrose via the photosynthetic pathway (not directly, but down the line a bit) so feeding them sugar on their roots theoretically reduces the amount of sugars they have to produce and increases yield and flavor accordingly.

It helps to have a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter reading. A whole tablespoon may be too much, I'm not sure, but it seems like quite a good bit.
It's strange that only a single plant would be affected... have you checked the others to see if anything similar is happening?

Well I've read on here before that one tablespoon per gallon was about right. Yesterday I added five gallons to the reservoir, this time only using 3 tablespoons. The one plant that was looking bad died so it obviously was a sick one, the other 15 are still doing great.
