My buds that I grew are also very amber, yet they don't give me much couchlock either, it's more strain dependent than timing.
We mostly get couchlock in the northern midwest due to the shorter season and cooler canadian like climate.
Generally the only strains that will flower on time around here is near-pure Indica strains... Works for me as I've only known the mostly couchlock high since I started smoking.
