A stroll around the genetic pool: What strains have you grown or just indulged?

Bag seed when I was a kid. They would turn male, be found, or die =( Finally I got the room, indoor and out; master kush, white widow, bubble berry, blue cheese, and the church. Indulged: sour diesel, hindu kush, white widow, AK 48, power plant, sour cream, sensi star, grape ape; just to name a few 2009 picks.

I started out with bagseed as well. Grew those 4 strains out again and again for almost a year, then finally stepped up and order seeds online.
Nirvana indoor mystery pack was my first purchase. I forget what strains were all in that pack, Skunk #1 and some other ones. Wasn't too satisfied with the results from that pack so I bought a bunch of Mandala seeds
Speed Queen Hashberry Satori
I've kept clones of Hashberry and Satori in my garden for like 2 years now. I love em, especially that Satori. Speed queen was pretty good too, easy to grow, finishes quick and stayed short, but the potency of the phenotype I had wasn't the best. I still have beans of all the Mandala strains, and I've always wanted to make some closet hack F1's, but never had the space.
The seeds are all three years old now, so I dunno if that dream will ever come true.
As for the indulged... half the bags I've bought this year are usually sold as some type of "kush" strain... imo it's all bullshit and games when product hits the street. Especially when you live half way across the country from the source.
The only reliable source I had for actual strains moved back to cali. Before he left tho, he brought around blue dream, grand daddy purp, green crack, romulan and OG kush.

My first grow was bagseed.
I was immediately intrigued by stealth growing. Naturally, I looked into AF strains; LowRyder; LR hybrids; mdanzig strains.
My first LR strain was LR X AK-47 X Master Kush X Valley Queen. 2 were male; 5 were female. The smoke was decent, but not exactly the high I was looking for (back then I was all about the couch-lock; indicas).
I moved on to try Menage A Trois, White Widow, and some more bagseed.
I've 'indulged' in a multitude of strains. It'd be impossible to name them all. But I'll try.
Baby Puke White Widow Grapefruit Headband Strawberry Cough Trainwreck Planewreck OG Kush Green Monkey The Black Purple Kush Mendocino Purple Herojuana Blackberry Kush Platinum Kush Jupiter Kush Granddaddy Purple Super Silver Haze Bubba Kush Northern Lights White Rhino AK-47 Afghan AK-48 G-13
Yeah, I can't remember any more names, but there's a whole lot fucking more.

I would have to have a hookup that can get clones from a dispensary wouldn't I?

I think Purple Kush is way overrated.
And it's not so 'elite' when it's sold as a clone at almost every dispensary in the state.

Yeah, I like Headband's aroma, too. It has a distinct smell, IMO.
There are some dank Headband crosses out there, as well. You should definitely check those out.

I think the term elite refers to it being a clone only strain, not necessarily a reference to it's availability. And purple kush is one of my favorites (although what I got was labeled as Obama Kush) I got it from the santa cruz area around inauguration time. What do you guys think of this? I still have a small bit of this strain left as it was sooo good. Here's a picture of it. I posted this on the Shroomery months ago and they seemed to think it was a Purple Kush. You guys tell me.
tell me that doesn't look like some of the best bud in the world. i wish I knew the grower.

GDP smells and tastes like grapes. Smooth, potent, and it made my ass get off the couch. (Say Grape Ape... I bet that made you smile)

Strains i've smoked: Um, too many to list lol.
