Mandala Satori LED Extravaganza!

So I just put 8 seeds to bed under a warm, most paper towel...hoping for 100% Germination. I will be growing these in 15inch circular pots, in 2 separate tents (Homebox S), under a 90W LED light in one tent, and a 120W LED light in the other tent. I will be posting pictures of the setup soon

2 of 8 seeds have germinated in under 48 hours
Im putting them in 100 sphagnum peat moss as soon as I see a taproot peeking out. The peat moss has been pre-wetted to make sure that there are no dry pockets...
any suggestions are welcome, agmotes165

So I have a quick question regarding Soil. My last recipe involved a 1:1 ratio of peat moss to perlite...I have heard that you need lime to counteract the acidity of the peat moss. I currently have no lime, but i do have a lot of vermiculite.
Could I substitute vermiculite for peat moss and be ok? Or would it hold too much water for my plants?

I wouldn't substitute vermiculite for peat moss. You can do just perlite and verm, but then that's a hempy bucket, and you're not really growing in soil anymore. Most horticultural peat moss is already pH buffered though, so i would think you should be okay as long as you don't buy the shitty stuff.
I would suggest a hempy bucket though, they're amazing.

Sorry I havent updated in a while...its been busy around here.
so these are my babies from yesterday
This is a picture of my future clone cabinet (right now its just random plant cabinet
Hopefully I can get a good strong bonsai mother plant and build me a little aerocloner so I can keep the Satori strain going for a while.
And here is the current condition of my tent
from the front entrance
right side...with bud in drying from my last grow
and the left side which is currently supply storage...
Any questions on the setup or anything just ask...I'll be around...but still very busy

Update Week 2
So I finally got my 2 tent setup done today...since i will probly be transplanting them 2morrow or Sunday.
90W-right side
120W-Left side
And here are the seedlings...they are growing up nicely...I have them on a diet of fox farm's big bloom until this coming week, when I will be switching to a mix of big bloom and grow big...with a molasses addition to supplement the soil.
1 seedling has a small discoloration on the newly developing leaves, any idea what that may be?
I ended up going with this mix for my soil
per batch: 12 cups perlite 6 cups sphagnum peat moss 6 cups vermiculite 1.5-2 cups worm castings 1 tablespoon blood meal 3 tablespoons bone meal 1 teaspoon bacteria/mycorrhizae soil innoculant
I have 7 seedlings...and 7 12-inch pots full of this soil mix...
I will start with 24/0 for veg...then revert to 12/12 after 5-6 weeks of veg time...and I hope to either top all of these plants or employ the FIM technique on all of them...We'll see how it goes.
Let me know if I'm screwing up in any way...I would love to make this a kickass grow

So here are those pictures that I promised
Left side: 120W
Right side: 90W
And here is a false-color image and a black and white image of some of the plants, since my Nikon D40 doesnt like the color of the LEDs...
And finally, my new Phire brand bong I bought 3 days ago...hits wonderfully. As my friend put it: "like breathing Antarctica"

I <3 good glass (both the bong and the cam).
Have you tried to use auto white balancing on the D40 yet? I'd tell you how but you're going to have to check the manual for instructions as I'm used to Cannon gear...
Sweet looking plants as well btw. The internode spacing looks pretty tight, they must like those lights.

I suppose those lights aren't causing the soil to dry out as much as it would usually with a warmer light. If you manage to destroy it, maybe keeping some aluminium foil or plastic over the top of your soil keeping light off it would help stop another outbreak. That shit'll spread like the plague.

I thought trichoderma is a beneficial fungi to have in plant soil...and yes i have a fungi background too and green mold is why i left the hobby for a while...
but yea I thought that trich is beneficial in the sense that it wards off other fungal problems...maybe im misinformed?

Those are three comments about trich from Jorge's horticulture book. They seem to reference fertilizer that has trich in it. I don't know if that's different or not. But it looks like i was dead wrong about trich!

UPDATE: WEEK 5
The plants are doing ok, I am having some trouble with gnats but I'm treating them as instructed with Indoor Pharm by Pharm Solutions. The spray will burn the leaves if the light is too close...so I end up spraying, then raising the lights to the top position, and spray foliage with water every few hours for 24 hours.
They are currently between 8 and 12 inches tall, 5-7 nodes, and have all recently been FIM'd. I am hoping to give them 6-7 weeks of vegetative growth before inducing flowering.
here you can see the node spacing for one of the taller plants:
and here is a FIM'd apical meristem.

Week 6 Update...Approaching the End of Vegetative Period
Doing very nicely
The tallest, 21 inches tall from soil level, 8 nodes below the FIM cut, and 3 branches after that.
Attempts at FIM...some successful, others not so much...but I did get at least 2 main tops from each cut.
I currently have a few scrawny looking plants in the 90W tent (the one with 3 plants. I believe this is mostly from burning of the leaves due to the gnat spray, and one very slight over fertilization. One of these plants is showing purple streaks on some of the stems, does anybody know what is causing this?
I have been using this mix of nutrients:
Fox Farm Big Bloom 2tbsp per gallon Fox Farm Grow Big 2tsp per gallon Blackstrap molasses a drop or two per gallon
I purchased purple maxx (snowstorm) and gravity. I am wondering how I should apply the purple maxx. I'm thinking cutting the Big Bloom in half, and cutting out the Grow Big and molasses completely...and adding purple max at half the recommended dose to the water, and if all goes well...increase the Big Bloom and maybe work in a little Tiger Bloom.
Lemme know what you guys think about any of this... peace agmotes165

Trichoderma can be a problem mold when you're budding though. Surely it's bad to have it there at any stage then.

Good to see this grow has been a bit more controlled! Very nice dude and those are going to get a little bigger than you think maybe. I don't think your last plant was that large when you put her into flowering but I may be mistaken. Either way congrats on this grow so far and I can't wait to see some budshots later on. Peace.

Ok...12/12 lighting has been initiated.
I just treated them with a very light dose of purple maxx with no nutes since the soil has bone meal and blood meal and mychorrizal fungi, and i wanna err on the safe side since a slightly underfed plant can be fixed pretty easily...overfed cannot be fixed so easily.
I took some pictures of them before I added the purple maxx, I mixed 1/2 tsp. per gallon of water and added a quart of this mix per plant after pre-watering with 1/2 gallon of pure water.
Left Side:
Right Side:
I have UVB CFL's for this grow...I'm wondering when I should put those in and how long i should run them a day. Any help with that would be amazing and in the meantime I will search around for any subject matter.
Now its just sit back and relax and hope all this falls into place haha

Ooooh, purple maxx, fancy! Heard great things about that product, have you looked into using gravity as well?
As for the uvb, I wouldn't worry about setting them up until you start to get some buds in. As for length IIRC you should only run the uvb for 1/2 the light cycle (6 hrs). Don't put that in stone, I'll do some digging (i'm pretty sure i posted a UVB thread in the main cult forum when we first opened doors here) to see if I can find a definitive answer for you.
Your plants look beautiful and I'm looking forward to see what you can do with these LED lights. Who knows, you might make a believer out of me and make me go drop a 1/2 G on a light bank
Good luck, can't wait to see those buds!

Trichoderma is a fungus that is utilized by agriculture. It has a tendency to form symbiotic relationships with the plant's root system. It also eliminates competitor fungi and parasitic fungi.
The reason trichoderma has such a negative reputation is because it can destroy crops of other fungi.
I view trich in my soils as a blessing. Especially since I use organic nutrient sources and need some organism to make it more available for the plant. I also have a moderate fungus gnat infestation. I have heard that they are harmless until you run out of soil based fungus for the larvae to chew on, then they start to chew on the tips of the roots, so having such an aggressive fungus ensures that the gnats have plenty of fungus to chew on instead of the roots. The trich has been there since about week 2 of the veg cycle and I have not noticed any negative reactions from the plants.
But again I'm not an expert so I will keep you guys updated on how it progresses, and note any problems that arise.

OK time for an update now that a hell storm of busy has passed...
Week 1 after 12/12 lighting initiated.
Minimum plant height: 17 inches from soil level Maximum plant height: 28 inches from soil level
Stretching is very evident but no preflowers are showing as of yet.
Current Nutrient Mix Fox Farm Big Bloom 2 Tablespoons per Gallon of water Purple Maxx (Snowstorm) 1/2 teaspoons per gallon of water
Im trying to keep the nutrients light for now...due to Purple Maxx causing increased risk of nute burn in the plants. I am trying to build up the nutrients back to normal...week by week to make sure I dont burn the shit out of all my plants.
Ok here are the pictures
I noticed some spots on a couple of the leaves...anybody know what this is?
Thanks guys...feel free to comment or ask questions peace agmotes165

No that doesn't look like classic "Nute Burn" at all, which would be browning and crisping starting at the very tip and working it's way toward the base of the leaf. Minor burns will only burn the very thin tip part of the leaves.
I am not good at diagnosing deficiencies but I would not call that nutrient burn.
Post it in Doctors Diagnosis
Looking great my friend!
I really really want to try Satori!!! I've heard nothing but great things about this strain. Very potent and a very good yielder, not to mention a great high. You are a very lucky man, I'm jealous.

Those spots look similar to what happens when mites get to your plant. Check the underside and see if you have some unwanted visitors.
Just a guess!

Spider mites usually require multiple treatments to rid yourself of the issue, because they have a rolling generational cycle. Just a heads up.

yup, spider mites can be a major PITA to deal with. Keep your eye on things and keep it under control while it's still small. If those fuckers spread they'll ruin your entire crop.

SOO...
Quick update, because im super busy...
All of them have shown their gender....2 of 7 are female
Both of the females only have like 5 calyx so far.
So what i have decided to do is put one female in each tent, do some creative bending techniques...and re-initiate vegging so I can fill both tents with one plant a piece. I figured since it was so early in the flowering period It wouldn't be that big of a problem to force them back into vegetative.
I will update 2morrow when I am less busy with pictures of the new setup...

Damn, bad news, a couple more girls would have been nice... How much heat do those LEDs throw? Maybe you could move both of them into one tent for the time being and just double up on the light. That way you wouldn't need two tents and perhaps you could even start some more girls in the extra one.

Ok so here are the pictures of the best looking plant:
the stem of this plant is much more flexible that the plant from my last grow, so bending these didn't take much effort, and i was never worried that I might break them. As you can see, the branches have made a dramatic turn up to the light. The plants have gone from nearly 3 feet tall to just under 1 foot tall, and they are filling a much larger footprint.
My plan is to veg. for another 2-4 weeks...until I have the plant at a little under the size that I want, and then switch to 12/12 and treat with bushmaster to speed up flowering time and prevent excessive stretching. Once flowering begins I will begin a steady treatment of purple maxx...and finish off with a combination of light purple maxx and light gravity treatments along with a little molasses.
I will still be installing UVB lights during flowering as well. Lemme know what you guys think of this plan.

Dr. Penguin...
I decided to put one plant in each tent so that I could let them really fill out...let the root system develop for a long time...and not have to compete for light. Also time is not a factor for me so I dont mind waiting a while for them to get bigger
theman420....
thanks for the good words on the plants. I was hoping to do a sea of green of sorts...but since it didnt turn out like i planned I am going for kindof a bonsai type thing...just trying to let the plants spread out and develop a good "array of solar panels" so to speak. when the plants have little to no direct light coming through the canopy and are about 3 feet tall I will probably initiate flowering...and hopefully harvest a little more than my last grow.
everyone else...
thanks for the support along the way...sorry i haven't been commenting on some of the grow logs...but I think everybody has been doing top notch and even though i don't comment, I'm always on top of the recent updates and drool at everyone's pictures...keep up the awesome work

i think you could keep wrapin it in a circle since you already have it going that way it may slow down growth but all areas will be hit by light and the buds will all be on the top part of the braches kinda like ?Scog? but with out the screen.
i should have some pics of my plants in a couple days hopefully, and you can see how much bending these plants can take when they strech out!
I will have to invest in one of these LED lights and do a grow log as you did! the people that are already growing with these lights and one that are thinking about it i say you should go and invest in them. for the LED ufo 90 watt which is the same as a 400watt hid and cost 200bucks. (cant be measured in lumens because they put out PAR) a grow tent that cost about 170. and the electric bill which would be less than running a 100watt light bulb and the heat issue with HIDs. i think these are the way to go people are just afraid because they are new and dont know how to use them correctly. the more people that set up grow logs here and puts the word out the more they will start to get bigger in the market.

Ok quick update because im so busy it hurts
I believe this is week 2 after training the plants.
I have noticed a little yellowing of the leaves in the past day or 2. But I would attribute that to not fertilizing for one week after I forced the plants back into veg. And maybe the LED light was too low, It was almost touching the plant. Anyway...Im going to try and get a proper update this weekend when I have time.

OK so I decided that with 2 months of vegging under their belts its about time to move up to a nicer place to live.
I transplanted them to 6.5 gallon buckets (old fermentation buckets from my beer brewing days). Soil mix was 2 parts perlite to 1 part verm and 1 part sphagnum peat moss, and 1 tbsp of bone meal was added per 2 gallon batch since i will be hitting these pretty heavy with fertilizer in the next few weeks.
The root balls were tight and it was pretty obvious they needed some extra room to stretch their legs
120W:

They may not look like much now because they are still recovering from the training session. But they should recover fine and look awesome in my next update.
And now here are a few pumpkins that me and the miss carved this weekend:

Alright I am finally updating!
so this is week 12 of vegetative cycle
120W Plant:
90W plant
as you can see, the plants are trying to flower in 24/0 light...is that normal for a plant that has been vegging for 3 months straight?
I will be switching them to flowering tomorrow. I will try to update more often haha

its not normal i think, unless they are auto-flowering strains or just saying they are ready to bud which is probably the cause here. They both look great, now that's done with only LED light a 90w and 120w both in separate grow tents?
I would go in there on the plant that's under the 90w and trim off all the dying leafs. just a suggestion don't know if it helps or not??

Hopefully I wont get any stretching at all...but if i do i have a little headroom.

Ok much needed update:
Plants suffered from slight heat stress over the weekend...my roomate cut off the fan blowing cool air into the grow area
also the bushmaster stopped all vertical growth...but made the plant sensitive to nutes, so looks like a slight nute burn has occured...feel free to comment if this is an incorrect diagnosis.
On the bright side...calyx formation is occurring...and they are very, very bushy right now.

They're looking beautiful though, not long now.
Do you plan on ripping off some of those shade leaves so the light can penetrate below?

It does seem nute burned a little. You seem to know whats up though. Leaves look like they are curling under. But that might be from the heat you mentioned. Or it could be part of a nute problem.

Snurry: I remove the leaves once they die completely, since the fan leaves are the major site of photosynthesis as well as a storage mechanism for surplus sugars and what not...And I may trim them up a little in the next week or so.

Fox Farm nutes(all six) have IMO more than enough nutrients. What kind of npk/ph balance do you have between the fox/bushmaster? I use nothing but Fox and the kids turned out great. Check my avatar, all fox farm. =)
IMHO I would give it JUST water, no nutes for a couple days, they look dehydrated/heat stressed, and check nute/ph balance. Both of those can stress.

Roomates...cant trust them to do anything right...i go away for one weekend and set up everything to just work...and tell him to make sure nothing blows up...and he somehow managed to close the closet door even though i made it very clear not to...so the grow area was right around 95-100 degrees when i got home...so probably more heat stress
I watered them and sprayed a little fine mist in the grow area since the humidity was really low...to attempt some evaporative cooling of the grow area. I managed to get the temperature down to 85 and dropping within 5 minutes of getting home...so hopefully they wont wither away...
wish me luck... agmotes165

100 degrees shouldn't be anything to worry too much about, especially if it was only for a short period of time. I've seen plants regularly experience 95 degrees during the peak hours of the day and they still turned out great.

Well you will probably be happy to know that my babies are doing fine...They survived the heat and the light nute burn...and are now puffing up nicely...I took all of these photos for Inbred_gimp, so they are all under a combo of LED, CFL, and a few used a flash. Some of them were altered after shooting to kinda bring out the detail of the calyxes since my Digital camera gets confused with intense Red-blue LED light...

So quick update with lots of pictures
This is week 4 of flowering: The plants are doing nicely...and the buds are starting to really kick into high gear of calyx production:
120W:
90W
As you can see...the 90W plant has some branches that are beginning to sag under their own weight...so tied it up a little...
feel free to comment...

the specks are slight discolorations, I think they are the combination of heat stress and a little nute burn. I have checked for spider mites and cant find any...but I'll keep an eye out

What's up with the clawing you have going on in the 120? Have you checked your PH lately? Looks like a classic case.. Combined w/ heat stress I would say
Anyways they still look great, and are flowering right a long! Should be some nice nuggage! I am 3 weeks behind you

I know that most good LED systems use a current-limiting power supply since a small change in voltage across an essentially bare wire can cause a drastic change in current (LED's dont offer much resistance in a circuit, and therefore cannot limit current flow very well).
Other than this all i can think of is too much stuff hooked up to that circuit, do any fans stop working when the fuse blows? I cant see that causing it, but its all i can think of.
hope this helps, agmotes165

Agmotes, have you any experience with HIDs? As in could you give a comparison of the pros and cons of LED? What kind of veg and flowering time are you getting with the LED?

I have no experience with HID, I started growing about 7 months ago...In a closed closet, with no ventilation when the door is closed. This closet is in my bedroom so I have to close the door at night in order to sleep. Because of this lack of adequate ventilation I cannot run HID's due to the heat load in such a small, enclosed space.
This is why i went with LED's. I am currently using a 120W and a 90W LED in this grow area, along with an 80W incline fan and a couple of CFLs for full-spectrum supplement. I can run all of this equipment 24/0 during veg, and even during the summer with the door closed I dont run over 90 degrees.
I feel as though the LED's lack the yield that high wattage HID's can pump out, but seeing as I am running a setup that I would not be able to run in my current situation with HID's...I grow a decent amount of really nice bud, and although I wouldn't recommend LED's for commercial growing (I barely break even on my investments) I would recommend it to someone who feels limited by space and ventilation requirements.
They cost too much money IMO, but a 120W LED will greatly outperform a 120W HPS light, although it may not be on par with a 600W HPS like a lot of LED companies claim.
One other thing about the LED lights...I have used the 90W for two grows now, and I am starting to see a slight fading of the red LED's. I have heard that they dim the fastest, and granted i do run 24/0 veg and 12/12 flower. I also tend to do a lot of LST, and in my current grow my plants were vegging for 3 months while i trained them to max out the floor space without being 10 feet tall. So it seems that with about 7 months of pretty much constant use, the red LED's will begin to fade. Seems to be working just fine though for small plants.

I'm guessing you can't replace the led bulbs then? And if they do indeed fade it makes the idea of purchasing a HID which you can replace the bulb with more appealing again. I'm running a 400W HPS in my closet. It's running 22/2 at the moment. During winter it actually keeps the grow space a nice temp, although I found during the summer that it did tend to get pretty roasting in there, and my ventilation was pretty shoddy. Still got over an ounce out of a plant dispite the high temp during flowering.

Yea I'm actually gonna quit growing after this grow finishes up around new year's...until i get a better housing situation...I think that if i had the money and ventilation i would just have a room sealed off with a 1000W or a couple 600W or 800W HID...just to get an idea of how they perform.
I will however be using the LED's to grow me some indoor veggies
I do have a question for everybody:
My plants are about 3 weeks away from finished...give or take a week. I have been saving my purple maxx formula for right about now. I also have some gravity supplement to harden up the bud a little. Any suggestions on how to apply these and not burn up my plants?
I was thinking about doing a 3 gallon flush to try and remove excess nutes in the soil, since the purple maxx and the gravity both say it can cause nutrient sensitivity in the plants. I was also going to raise my lights as high as they go once I add the gravity, since I have heard that it makes the plants extremely easy to burn.
I also want to bring the temps down in order to really bring out the color of the bud...any suggestions on when to start bringing the temp down in order to get a little color without stalling out growth before the plants finish?
Any advice is very much appreciated

i've heard purple comes out of plants with those genetics when near the end of harvest(last 2-3 weeks) hte temperatures at night drop to rather cool conditions(50's or 60's). but i could be wrong.... probably am.

that's true genetics play a big role in the make up of colour. you actually want green because its better for the plants, but blues, purples, pink, black even can come out around the end of harvest when temps cool off. it would be like if someone had blue eyes, its a b, while brown is a B. it gets really complicated, Ive been trying to get a purple/blue strain but it seems it makes more mutants and weak plants than any thing else.

I don't reckon you could really burn your plants with that light too easily. I'd keep the light nice and close.

Ok so last night i ran 5 gallons of clean water through each plant...to try and remove any excess fertilizer out before i apply with purple maxx and gravity...
with gravity...the instructions say it sometimes helps to add a little molasses to the mix...since i will be applying purple maxx and gravity at the same time, any suggestions or experience with this?
thanks agmotes165

ok well first of all PurpleMaxx is supposed to be used during all of flower, with nutes. I've applied it through the feeding water, but I've gotten the best results with foliar spray daily. 1ml in a gallon of water sprayed during lights off every day made a huge difference.
For gravity I always feed with 1ml per gallon plus about 2Tbs of molasses, watered daily for 3 days (that's for hempy buckets or hydro, for soil I'd go with about 2ml per gallon for two waterings). I then give them just plain water with molasses for 2 days, then 1/4 strength nutes for 2 days and then about 2/3 strength for a day, and then if they're still ok I go back to full strength and lower the lights.
it's more about just looking at your plants and making sure they look healthy than anything else. my schedule I just gave you isn't really even set, it's just rough guidelines for my setup that I bend for each individual plant depending on how they look

I thought gravity was meant to be used in the last two weeks of flowering. Do you not flush your buckets before harvest? It would seem to me you should be decreasing the level of nutes, not bringing them back up.
Got me though, never used the stuff (although i will be!)

my first two, and this grow, have all been using shultz concentrate plant food.... probably horrible for results. if i can get some money saved up i'm thinking about getting one of those 80$ packs of nutes.. donno where to start tho.

sorry, I didn't explain that very well. PurpleMaxx is used all throughout flowering. For the Gravity I only use it for those 3 days mentioned above, but those 3 days occur in about the 5th or 6th week of flowering (when about 10% of the hairs have turned is usually my signal) I don't flush prior to the gravity, but never any nutes with the gravity, and as I outline, I slowly work back up the full strength afterwards

You should be pretty dang close to harvest! Lets see some PICTARS!
You are about 4 weeks ahead of me. My plants look as far along as the plants in your last pictorial update. I'm getting damn excited so I'd assume that you are really happy right now! You are probably ready to flush if you haven't begun already. If I remember Satori flowers in 8-10 weeks so you should have about a week or 2 at the MOST left, but I want some pics to justify my guesstimate!

Well I will have pics tomorrow, but I can describe whats happening...
So I visited my relatives for a week...no water for my plants during that week...
When I got back some of the small leaves on the top buds were turning yellow...not sure if this is a sign that the plant is ready or if its from lack of water...
Also both of the plants are about to fall over from the bud hanging off of them...the 120W has several side braches with bigger "colas" than the main cola...although the main cola has the heaviest trichome concentration...
I am also piping in cold outdoor air to keep the day time temp around 70 and the night time temps to 60 or lower...trying to force a little color change.
I'll have pics posted on the morrow...you guys can see for yourself
Peace, agmotes165

Are you flushing yet? How long do you think? I forgot, are you using any CFL's for supplemental lighting this time?

Stumbled onto this thread while looking for Satori info.
Great Grow
I will be experimenting with it as well; and now, thanks to you, I know more or less what to expect, except that I will do a SOG.
Any pics of final weight?

So...here is one of the final updates:
I harvested shortly after my last post...probly a little too early. The bud turned out fine though. I water-cured for 7 days in 3 separate 1/2 gallon mason jars, changing the water every 2 days or so. The final product is a little dry but im letting it reach a better moisture level with a couple of orange peels.
Not sure on the final weight but the smoke is pretty awesome. I really like the almost jittery high from harvesting early. The potency is pretty good too, and the taste is much better than my last grow.
I saved all of the trim and did an initial extraction with acetone. After that was dry I posted a thread on the use of activated carbon to clean up the oil while dissolved, but i never got any replies, so I tried it. I re dissolved the oil in acetone, and then dried the solution with anhydrous MgSO4, then poured the mix and some extra acetone through a bed of activated carbon. The solution went from black green to clear with gray in it from carbon dust. I then filtered and let dry...and what came off of it was a thick fluid that was still dark from some residual carbon dust...but when i tried a bit of it I didnt get anything from it...so i dont know what happened, because there are a few articles about using activated carbon to remove impurities from your hash oil, but there is no mention of how much carbon to use...or what kind of contact time you want. So what probably happened is I used too much activated carbon and removed everything but the completely non-polar hydrocarbons from it.
Anyway...I dont have a picture of the final weight. I would guess 2 oz.
I think I'm done with all of this. I have learned how to grow and a lot about the biological, chemical, and horticultural nature of this. Like shrooms last year, I am becoming bored and moving on to the next hobby (Damn my ADD).
If I can get a hold of my gf's camera again I'll try to get a few pics up. And I will probly be lurking around here on occasion.
Peace and Love Everyone, thanks for all of your help and kindness, agmotes165

As a fellow shroomer, I can reassure you that this is not a phase, this is the beginning. On the contrary, the ADD, as you put it, helped me get away from the easier "shrooming" and try manipulating plants instead of fungi.
If you think you have mastered the process, you have much to learn. But, if growing has become tedious, try a different outlet, perhaps another variety of growable or try breeding.
There needs to be a breeding movement. Time to get rid of the Schwag strains and make potent, fast flowering, indica/sativa dominant plants. BOOSH!
Keep your chin up!

yes this is true, it is only the beginning. I said that like 4 or 5 years ago when i took some seeds from a nice bud i bought(that was way to high of price for me! 60 an 1/8th!!) than i found that you can do so much more, mix strains, top them, produce fem seeds and such. than used this for medical purposes for myself and tried different lighting and growing methods. the newest one is led in soil! thanks to you, its the best lighting Ive used so far besides the great outdoors.
growing shrooms was to easy and the advanced things took to much time and cleanness for me plus the high was to strong and didn't like it to a certain point. So Ive used pot for about 7 years off and on to help control my depression and anxiety, and so far its the best thing Ive used. so ill keep growing until i get my perfect strain and be able to produce my own medicine for lil to nothing and not get all the side effects of using pills from the doc.
on the other note, you did a great grow and even if you did harvest to early you got some nice buds to smoke and spread the word on the led lighting. i give you 5 stars for this grow log! great job!

I agree with the above 2 posts completely. No way have you gotten bored.
I have super bad ADHD and this hobby is keeping my head straight!
The thing is, get a PERPETUAL grow going, clones, mothers and the whole works. I guarantee you won't be bored when there is nearly an hour of gardening to do each day...
I think you have a good green thumb and are a valuable member and would really not like to see you go, or the end of your work...
Please re-consider with my idea. I know how boring it is to wait for an entire plant cycle to finish, but if you have plants at 3 different stages at all times, it really gets exciting! Seedlings, Sexually Mature, and Fully Flowered plants all at the same time. Give it a shot!

Haha dont worry...as soon as I get a hold of a decent piece of land and a house to work in, crazy things will start popping up. I have every intention of contributing to both the greenery field of self-taught scientists/engineers...as well as the fungal field of study. I feel like both of these interesting fields are so inhibited by law that there arent a lot of proper studies conducted. I am currently a couple of semesters away from a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering...and would love to continue/compliment my education with more topics in chemistry, lab setups, machining classes, and then some biology such as microbio, botany, horticulture, etc.
I would love to be able to design and construct my own setups and apparatuses for any number of experiments. I currently have a dream of a home setup for protoplast fusion in fungi, that will potentially yield hundreds of genetic hybrids per sample, and may even yield a genera hybrid (not sure if thats the proper term, i meant crossing up to certain fungi in the same family but different genera). While this is a rare chance, it has been done with non-actives. I would be happy in a successful hybrid of P. cubensis and P. cyanescens or azurescens. This technique can also work on plants though my knowledge of that particular branch becomes thin at best. If it works for active fungi, I may expand and attempt to mess around with an at home technique for plants as well.
All of this will become a reality once I have a place of my own and proper cash flow to fund it. If any of you guys are interested in the protoplast fusion, I have a really good thread started on the shroomery, my username is the same over there...
