I shall have to download and listen to that album, just out of curiosity.

I do not expect to enjoy it.

You actually might like them.

Listen to 'parabola', that's a good song. Pretty much one of the only ones I know by them :stoned:

I remember having to skip literally every other song on that album. It was a bunch of good songs, interspersed with awful filler. Anyone who likes good drumming should be able to appreciate Lateralus though.

go for 'Laterulus' before you listen to those.

I don't even listen to Tool that much but that one appeals to me the most if I had to choose one.

Definitely. Lateralus is to Tool as the Black Album is to Metallica. Even people who don't like the band can genereally enjoy it.

no it isn't . AENIMA is .

some people just don't understand. the fillers in aenima are what make the album whole. .. and complete. I see them as precursors to the main songs etc... they are a part of otherness.

Nope, sorry, the filler annoys the shit out of me.  And I have a high tolerance for filler, since I listen to grateful dead shows... they may noodle around tuning up and deciding what to play for a few minutes between songs, it just doesn't sound pretentious and annoying when :gd_icon: does it.

Tool gets far more respect in my book than most other bands due to the real emotion behind there songs.

They are not just trying to be "rock stars" like most bands out there, they are artists. Maynard expresses himself through his art and he and tool are more than just corporate or popularity whores.
