Big difference, a lot of "shitty" weed is actually poorly dried and/or seeded.
A poorly dried crop can turn good bud into da nasty, and if its also seeded, thats less THC in the anyway.
Another problem is how well tended the plants were when they were
alive. In large scale outdoor grows like ur thinkin, many plants tend
to get neglected, harvested too late, etc... Meaning, your bud is
likely to have more CBD's or CBN's (THC should be the only thing that
moves from the plant matter into the glycerine) which greatly affects
the quality. Personally, i wouldnt do it without good bud, because the
"cannaglyss" is not a real strong buzz even when done with the dank.
Unless... you have access to a large amount of this so called bad bud,
you could make a couple batches, combine them, and then evaporate the
tincture to concentrate it.
But i dont think the glycerine can readily evaporate. youll probably end up with a very viscous material.
But i dunno, havent tried to concentrate it yet, maybe ill try it next round and get back to ya with results.
Edit: If you going for a edible, make cannabutter for some tasty treats.
also you can extract with butane and put it in capsules (talk about a wicked body buzz)

i think a butane "honey" oil (BHO) is the easiest way to get the best out of it.
im not sure of the shelf life of the oil but its probably your best bet.
a half pound of bud will make about an ounce of oil.
take your time and be careful, butane is some really volatile shit.
Basically your holding a very leaky bomb when ur extracting.
Wear some rubber gloves and try not to breathe in the fumes

i dunno man, maybe look into kief/pressed kief of some sort.
personally i like the oils because i can put it on my cigs and go to town.
