That's exactly what I thought when I first saw this! And I already have the tub for it.

This works quite well! I use tap water with a tiny bit of rooting hormone and a little bit of h202, roots appear between 3-10 days. No cutting has taken longer than 10 days to produce enough roots for replanting. Produces healthy, vigorous cuttings.

oh and one other question-
if I was to try and build a smaller version of this (I only need 5-10 clones at a time anyway) how would you go about calculating the distance between sprayer heads, and how many GPH do I need? do you calculate GPH in terms of each sprayer head needing a certain amount of waterflow, or in terms of reservoir size? does PSI matter more than GPH?

Each sprayer head is about 15GPH. No humidty dome needed. Put a 2 foot T5 or PL-55 above em.

I don't mean to dig up an old topic, but I've recently been presented with the opportunity to get some clones. My grow space is small, but will fit one of these tubs with a couple of feet of headroom until I move it into a bigger space. I don't want to pass the up the opportunity, but I'm wondering if six or so will be enough to get started?
How full do you fill your tub with water, and have you ever had a leaking issue with the rubbermaid roughneck?
Do you use any medium in your basket cups?
What temperature does your cloner space run at?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
[edit] Do you run your misters on a timer or on at all times?

There are usually some bugs to work out as far as leaks go.
I don't use a medium myself until I have a good bit of root growth.
I myself run all my rooms at 70 to 75 degrees.
I run my pump 24/7, but others like the 15 minutes on and 30 minutes off though out the day.

I'm going to start with six clones I think. I'm considering bigger baskets so more like 12 or 16 total instead of 35 in my rubbermaid. Is this reasonable or should I just opt for the 35 for for capacity later? I'm thinking with less baskets, the clones I do start can get a little larger. Thoughts?
Also, do you use your cloners until you have good enough root growth to transplant? Or do you leave your plants in your cloner clear until harvest? Or can you do it either way? Pros or cons?
Also, do you fill your bin about 1/2 full?
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions, I very much appreciate it guys!!

I say opt for the 35, if you need less you can place the others a part if you plan on growing with this system.
I use mine just for clones and starting seedlings.
As far as filling goes I usuall fill to about 4 inches above the pump.

Okay I'll go ahead and do the 35. Do you transplant to another aeroponic setup? (I've read up on stinkbud's and considering going that route)
Is it possible/beneficial to transplant to soil?
I don't want to blast my new clones with an HPS as I know they don't need a huge amount of light to root, would a few CFLs be sufficient? And what light cycle do you run your cloner on?
Thanks again!!

No I use a drip system for growing and aero for clones.
You could transplant to dirt as for beneficial no clue being I don't grow in dirt.
CFL's will get the job done no worries.
I run my lights on a 12/12 most the time, 18/6 works as well.

Do you move your clones to your drip system? Or just grow them out til harvesting from the rubbermaid cloner? Sorry I'm obviously not getting something.

Stoney, do you have a grow log of your current setup?
I'm going to build one of this cloners today and hopefully get some clones started this weekend. How long do you leave your clones in your cloner to root? And how many CFLs do you use? I have the capacity for 10 but figure that'd be over kill.
When your clones "grow up" so to speak, is it possible to harvest more clones from clones?
[edit]Many thanks to aznshroomer, looking forward to your aeroponic flowering guide!
Also, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions Stoney!

No sorry I have yet to post pictures of my cloner, sorry.
I usually let them get about 6 to 7 inches of root before transplanting.
To root I only use one 14 watt/60 watt output/.
You can take clones from clones, this is best done during veg.
"Also, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions Stoney! "
No problem at all, that's what we're here for.

Great, thanks again for your input and help.
Should I worry about the temperature of my water in my rubbermaid cloner? I've heard it's better warmer, would it be worth getting an aquarium heater or something for it?
