Here is a couple pictures of a bud i got from a friend who just harvested. She was White Widow according to the grower, but it has more a sweet taste unlike that strong dank hash taste of widow. Either way what ever she was, she is mighty tasty!!

I wish they had a Marijuana Genome Bank, or an ancestry tree where you could test and find the origins...but I dream

Seems all the amateur pot heads out here either think they have widow or blueberry. Both are popular out here, but getting harder to get a pure strain of either anymore. All the growers have been mixing genes to find the ideal genetics for good production, height, and potency.

I think I got TRUE White Widow Genetics. But I hear your case, I've seen many a White Widow Grow that looked nothing like mine. So if anyone wants to trade clones, I have the real goods.

Such a thing already exists for the police. The above article is six years old.

The database in that article doesn't track the genetics of weed. Its a database of human DNA built up from siezed cannabis. They get your DNA off the weed they sieze and build up a trail of who hasdealings with the bud.
The only thing i can see coming from it is double prosecutons. You get arrested for one thing, they check your DNA and boom you get done for that weed you grew back in 2003 and distributed to half your state!

no its cannabis DNA tracking to see if the batch came from the same genetics, because of cloning and whatnot making every batch of pot almost all the same genetically.
Quote:
Waiting for marijuana seeds to grow into plants takes too long for high-level dealers who move thousands of pounds at a time, police say. Instead, dealers usually plant cuttings from their most potent plants.
That results in a shorter growing period and ensures top-quality drugs in every harvest. But it also means an entire marijuana crop is comprised of just a few plants, cloned over and over. Genetically those plants are identical.
An officer who makes a drug bust in Connecticut might normally have no idea, however, that the pot came from the same harvest as a load seized on a California highway. DNA pot profiles can help make those connections.
But not everyone is convinced that marijuana dealing should be the cutting edge of forensic science.

Ah my bad, The way i read it the first time it seemed like they were profiling people DNA from the weed siezed. tracking which bags/buds have come from where so they can follow the trail.
That's pretty cool that they can tell the genetics of a plant after it's grown. Sucks that they will then use that to trace people.
