Mel's super-duper epic Yellowstone experience **UPDATE**
#238145 - 06/09/09 10:31 PM (15 years, 8 months ago) |
|
|
In exactly a week i head back to Wyoming for my court date. Charges are: possession of an illegal substance (hash) possession of stolen property (credit card)
Well the hash i'm not worried about, but the credit card i could get some serious charges for if found guilty of fraud. I had no intentions of using the card at all, just found it on the ground and happened to pocket it and forget about it for a few months. Once i got stopped by the Yellowstone rangers they asked me about it and i knew i was gonna get fucked by the "man."
Any ideas on how long my sentencing would be? I have never used it, but i'm sure they wouldn't believe a street kid like myself. Fuck... it's all starting to hit me now.

I'm sure it depends on your age and how you plead.
Maybe Google the laws and charges in Wyoming.

Wyoming has 99 plants as a misdemeanor so I don't they care aobut the hash.. How much hash was it?
The stolen credit card, just explain you picked it up, put it in your wallet, and forgot about it. You're innocent if you never used it and hope it wasn't used before you found it. Of course talk to a lawyer also.

i've tried searching on google, but all the results contain info on what to do if said card was stolen.

yeah, it should be pretty easy to prove you didn't take/use it. depending on when it was canceled or reported stolen you might even be able to show you weren't in the same state then. Also you could try telling them you were on the road for several months and i would imagine strapped for cash so if it was gonna have charges and shit all over it they would probably of already been there. same thing actually happened to me with a family members credit card i had borrowed and got pulled over with.

dude you could always just not show up
that's what like 80% of people do when they catch misdemeanors in different states. as long as you never go back and get your information run you're fine.
but meeting up with jon and joel in mexico would be fun too

See, that term pedo gets thrown around a lot.
Is a 16 year old guy having sex w/a 16 year old girl a pedophile?
If not, then how is a 30 year old considered a pedophile for doing the same thing?
I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

They will put a warrant out for you but I seriously doubt that they would extradite you from another state over failure to appear on just those charges. Of course I can't be sure about that though. It's not like anyone ever really needs to go to Wyoming anyway and apparently you have already seen Yellowstone now.
In anycase, best of luck to ya man.

dude like i said if you never go back to the state then you're fine
the police have a fucking ridiculous time syncing their systems up (i know here at least for certain) which is why you can get arrested and have a warrant in another county that takes weeks to show up
bench warrants are like the most meaningless warrants and they don't actively search for you they just wait for you to show up somewhere and if a cop runs your information then they nab you. but dude wasn't that bench warrant for like a traffic ticket? no worries man the DA in wyoming doesn't know anything about you having another warrant in georgia and it won't show up in court.
if you do show up for court since you live out of state they will most likely fine you and if you can't pay the fine immediately then they'll put you on some probation for a while which will be loose as fuck like i mean you just have to call somebody once a week or something. but more than likely just fines.
no worries bro, enjoy catching your first drug charge! you are now officially another casualty of the war on drugs!

At first, i was looking at 2yrs unsupervised probation and a $1200 fine. Then the unexpected happens whilst waiting for the judge to announce my charges:
"Mr. ______, you are free to go"
The judge dismissed my charges - saying the rangers had no probable cause to search me, since i was just sitting on a curb eating a granola bar. So of course, i was as giddy as a school kid once i stepped foot outside the courthouse a free man.
Funny thing is: the guy sitting next to me in court waiting for HIS trial applauded me as i walked out of the courtroom and when i was hitching out of the park he stopped to pick me up and smoke me out. Then dropped me off at the bus station an hour and a half away, where i bought my ticket for departure at 4:20 to Los Angeles
What a wild ride
