The bullshit that is ... Asa Hutchinson

Watch the video, then follow along with my comments below:
Federal law still makes possession and sale of marijuana illegal. Yes, we know this much already.
The question is whether it should be expanded or legalized: absolutely not. Why not?
If you look at harmful drugs, whether it's tobacco or other hard drugs, such as marijuana, cocaine, or methamphetamine, the objective of society is to reduce the use of harmful drugs. Umm ... how is marijuana a harmful drug?
If you legalize another harmful drug, the question is: Will it expand use and availability? ... and the answer is: Absolutely, yes. Who's talking about harmful drugs though? This debate is about weed.
First of all, if people disagree with it, in our democracy, they can change the law. That is far more difficult a task than one would think.
Thus far, in the last eight years, they have not been successful in changing the law. Obviously - see my comment above.
In fact, Alaska decriminalized marijuana. When they saw it became a huge problem, they adjusted the law and recriminalized it. How was it a huge problem, exactly?
And so, the population still resist the legalization of marijuana, but it's a public decsion. How do they resist? It hasn't been up for vote.
Whenever you talk about the cost benefit, first of all, the figures on enforcement, that applies across the board, whether it's all illegal drugs. Umm ... what?
If you legalize one drug, you still have enforcement costs in the whole vast of range of methamphetamine and other illegal drugs. And what's this have to do with the issue of marijuana?
If your motivation is to bring revenue to the government, legalize/regulate it. This is the only intelligent piece he has said in this debate.
But if your motivation is to reduce the usage, to save teenage lives, to reduce dependence, to strengthen our culture, then the cost is worth it, and the revenue should not be a motivation. Save teenage lives? Save them from what?
I think that if you look to health professionals, they're not in favor of legalizing it, they recognize the health consequences of it. Total bullshit - of course they want it legalized - it's a helpful product.
The carcinogens in a marijuana cigarrete are more than a tobacco cigarette. More nonsense - show me one medical document that backs this up.
This debate is not about alcohol, So you're skipping over the question? How convenient.
... the debate is about a harmful substance called marijuana and drugs. Um ... how is marijuana harmful again? I missed that part.

That whole "save teenage lives" bit really pissed me off. I started smoking when I was a teenager and I do not regret a thing. Asa is a politician with a bunch of bullshit just trying to keep us from enjoying what we like.
Fuck the DEA and fuck Asa.

I love how politicians are willing to blatantly lie in front of audiences, and somehow still don't get killed. The way I was raised the only thing in life you have is your word. How can people really just lie like this, like honestly the things I would do to him if given the chance are horrible. I am glad to see everyone else seemed to support legalization though.

when was this interview?
--------------------
“You see this glass bong?” asks Achaan Chaa, the Thai meditation master. “For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I smoke out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass bong on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”
