So I have had an thing for the band Tool since I was like 8 years old, and I still listen to them everyday.
Does anyone else here like Tool?
What do you think of em?

Your allowed to have your tastes, but its kind of hard to say a progressive band sucks, due to the generally high level of innovation that you see in them.

You can't deny though that there musicality is beyond those who call themselves "accomplished" bands nowadays. Tool's amazing soundscapes and creative lyrics always keep me on the ball. I mean, I started listening to people like Sunn O))) and Xasthur and all those Black Metal bands because I grew up listening to them because thats what my father liked. So I went from black metal, to listening to mainly The Grateful Dead and Tool. I listen to so many different types of music, that its crazy!
Yeah, Lil Wayne is pretty much talentless, whenever you take away his looped beats. I mean, I like Lil Wayne, his songs are catchy and fun to listen to, but he has no talent what so ever. I think my 13 year old brother could make more sense rhyming than Lil Wayne does.
But what it comes down to is just person preferences. Its whatever turns you on is whats cool

I can't remeber the last time I listened to anything but trance, bob marley, chants (mostly native american.), meditative music, or anything at all that isn't upbeat. Used to be a huge Rammstein fan though.

lol they are not innovative nor musically technical, i wouldn't consider them a prog-rock band at all, but whatever your allowed your have your tastes. And comparing tool to lil wayne is like comparing a steak from the strip club to a steak from Bennigans. One is horrible, the other is only half assed okay.
im also tired of idiots saying danny carey is OMG BEST drummer ever when in reality he is 'solid' at best, nothing more.

Danny Carey is an OK drummer. Tool just lucked out when they added him to the band.
It's not Tool's music itself that is hard to grasp though, its the sounds behind it

I LOVE tool! As a matter of fact i am putting together a summer adventure that centers around their new tour. July 18 in Denver, July 19 in SLC, July 21 in Phoenix, and July 22 in Albuquerque. That's what I have planned so far. SHould be fucking rad. I can't wait. I just hope that these asshats don't buy up all our god damn tickets and sell em on ebay. I dont want to pay $600 for two tickets. That's another story. Anyway, I anticipate this new tour to be of top quality. I just want to see the band members having a good time on stage and rocking out. Normally they are stationary and mundane to say the least.

I don't know about that. I'm not a drummer and don't know the technicalities of the instrument. I can say that he is the only drummer that has shaken my soul with just a few crazy movements though. Personally, DC is one of my favorite drummers. Interesting analogy about the steaks - albeit off base. But seriously, I have noticed that some people LOVE to antagonize tool fanatics by propogating needless debate. Not saying this to you specifically, but just generally something I have noticed. When the thread goes down that road I withdraw.
Any growery members going to any shows this tour?

i like tool, i think as they get older the music has actually gotten better. I am a huge fan of maynards lyrics and vocals. i would like to try some of his wine.

you can order it off www.caduceus.org. I ordered three bottles a couple weeks ago and I got it sooner than I thought I would. I am not going to open them though. Not yet anyway.
