Family History got ruined, trying to apply for my indian card.

Can anyone help me on how to look up genealogy, and Indian ancestry for proof of my ancestry. My Grandmother had a lot of genealogy work done but all the records got ruined with a flood, I am just trying to get it so I can try to get a little extra money for college since my family just got hit really hard by the recession and we had to drop even our insurance.
I just don't know where to start, any help or suggestions would really help me out. I just want to be able to actually prove my heritage and not have people question it.

First, I got some questions.
What kind of Indian are you: the feather-in-the-hair, piece-pipe smoker "Indian" or the red-dot-in-between-the-eyes 7-11 owner Indian?
If your the feathered Indian, what tribe are you from? What percentage/fraction of Native American are you? Maybe full-bloodied?
Wish he had a cool culture like Natives Tribes do, ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- TrueHerbCrystal ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

I am 1/16 (maybe 1/8) Cherokee on my dads side, and like 1/16 Osage + 1/16 Cherokee on my moms side. I just need to get all the proof together, I figure I will pay a geneology site when I get money. Indian card means I never need to buy a hunting or fishing license, More financial aid (thank god).
