My outdoor grow (update 9/12)
#228317 - 05/19/09 08:30 PM (15 years, 5 months ago) |

So here is my out door grow for the year. I have 1 Romulan x Candy Shiva 1 Romulan x Skunk and 2 Bubblegum. I started them in jiffy pellets and moved to six inch pots.Stayed under a 18 inch floro on a 18/6 light cycle till it was warm enough to move outside. I hardened them in the six inch pots
When it was warm enough I moved outside and transplanted. I moved them into 5 gallon pots.I used Ocean Forrest mixed with Light Warrior at about 75/25. They have been out doors about two weeks now.
I would like some feedback on how they look. I also Would like some advise on how to set up a reservoir and a watering system. So I can pH my water and add nutes. I plan to use the fox farm line for my nutes.I am trying to go all organic on it.
Romulan x Candy Shiva
Romulan x Skunk

I found these little black dots on a few of my leaves. Does anyone know what they are and how to remedy it?

I am a beginner but i dug around for you.
Quote:
Stem rot appears as a brown or black discolouration at the base of the stem and is soft or mushy to the touch. Allow the soil to dry between waterings, and be sure to water around the stem, not on it. Wipe as much of the fungus and soft tissue away as possibly. If the rot doesn't disappear in a few weeks, treat it with a fungicide.
Spider mites are barely visible to the naked eye; they are ovoid-shaped. Juvenile mites are transparent and change to green as they suck the plant's tissue. Adults are tan, black, or semitransparent. False spider mites are bright red. Mites are usually well-established before you discover them, because they are so difficult to see.
To find out which pest you have, remove some damaged leaves and inspect the undersides under bright daylight. With spider mites, if you discover them early, a leaf may show only one or two tiny dots (adults) and a sprinkling of white powder (eggs) along the veins. In advanced cases, the undersides look dusty with the spider mites' webbing, or there may be webbing at the leaf nodes or where the leaflets meet the petioles. With whiteflies, you usually see the adults first. On the undersides of the leaves the whitefly larvae look like mites, but there is no webbing, and there are tiny golden droplets of "honeydew" excreted by the adult whiteflies. {Figure 53. Mites appear as black specks when you look up to the lights from the undersides of the leaves. Also see Plate 14.}
There are several other pests that can be a problem, although they rarely seriously affect marijuana. Aphids are about 1/16 inch long and are black, green, red, or pink. They have roundish bodies with long legs and antennae. Some species have wings. They congregate on the undersides of leaves which may then lose colour and become curled or distorted. Aphids excrete honey-dew droplets on the undersides of the leaves which can attract ants. If ants are also present, set out ant traps, because the ants will spread the aphids to other plants. A few successive washings in soapy water or one or two sprayings of the insecticides mentioned above should eliminate aphids.

So I was sitting outside yesterday watching my babies soak up some sun when the neighbors cat walked over by my plants. So I thought ok the cat likes the smell of ganja. Then he turns around sticks his tail in the air and starts pissing on my plants!!!! So I jumped up and chased him off then sprayed them off with water.
So I am wondering what I can do to keep this fucker away from my plants?I was thinking mothballs. So any advise would be great.
Thanks Kupa

If it's a male cat that still has his balls then pissing around the plants might just make him want to cover up your piss, so he'll probably piss even more. You could try the "piss off" plant from www.richters.com

Beautiful. Yours are looking nice and green, are you using any nutes? Mine are about a foot tall right now. They are looking very nice, and smelling very nice as well. Good luck with your grow and plentiful harvest.

Yeah I used to use fox farm and I would only wait 2 weeks till using nutes, what Im using now is a soil-less mix and im using technaflora nutes, up until now the best I have ever worked with, I even use them in my lab.

Nice I tested some nutes on one today gonna wait and see how it does.
I am having some trouble telling if two of them are male or fem. I want to get some better pics tomorrow to help see if anyone can tell for me.
So how long do I have once the male preflowers show before it will pollinate the females?

As of today, these were taken at the very begining of the light cycle and I added nutes at the end of the last one.

Just food for thought but I would rec. at a young age to start topping them so that you can truely try to maximize those plants full genetic potential. Especially using anything Fox Farm it can and will support it. Ive been doing this for sometime, and especially with fox farm its truely amazing. Ive had all my plants in the ground for a month now and I live in canada...most are almost waist high...with more top colas going than i can count on most. All have at least 4 top colas working...and last year I had some really busy ones that had almost 20 top colas which make for alot of weight.
In my honest opinion its better to try to keep them as short as possible...especially when growing outdoors. Hope this helps ya some...

don't top them, tie them down
start bending that tall one down a bit so it branches out into a bush.

Yeah I bent the shorter one down a few times now. Every branch on the shorter one is as tall as the top. The other I have been training the bottom branches to grow out further. I was planing on leaving the tall one tall and just use wire to bend the lower branches. It is actually starting to lean due to its own weight. The shorter one is actually taller than the other its just bent
Thanks for looking and the advice Kupa

Plants are doing great I will have updated pics soon. I started adding tiger bloom and open sesame about a week ago. I think it was a little late.So I am gonna cut that stage of it a little short and start adding the Beastie Bloom in about a week.

alright so we got rain last night and i was unprepared. They got a good couple hours or rain. When I got outside this morning they were soaked.
I have hem covered now but some of the branches were hanging and looking pretty sad overall. Is there anything I can do to help prevent mold?
I shook the buds to get rid of any water I could. Will I be alright or did I ruin my grow?

what's your average humidity? Usually you don't have to worry about it too much with outdoor bud because of the immense quantities of FAE, but if your relative humidity is never below 90% you may h ave an issue
