Saw about a month ago the Australian Pink Floyd show which is a tribute band. They were awesome, even had a million dollar light show complete with a projector screen much like floyd had during their pulse tour. If you get a chance to see em I recommend it.

Let Paw tell you a sad sad story....
Back in summer of `71 i had the choice to see Floyd "Meddle Tour" at the Music Hall in downtown Houston or go see Lou Reed "Heroine Tour" at Hofheinze Pavillion on the UH Campus.
I went and saw Lou Reed wrap a fuckass mic cord around his arm and act like a fucking junkie instead of watching Gilmour slay the fuck out of his slide guitar. I seriously had my priorities fucked up back then
Did someone say something about Fearless?

The breakup between Gilmour and Waters could not have been avoided. It was bound to happen because Gilmour was so much more talented when it came to playing guitar or any other instrument for that matter. To make matters worse Gilmours voice was 10 times better than Rogers.
Roger was and still is a fantastic writer/musician in his own right but his ego would not let him share the success with the rest of the band.
The thing that pissed me off the most about Waters was he wanted to end Floyd all together The court battle over Floyd ended with Gilmours lawyers paying Waters a shitload of money to just shut him up and go away.
Ive often sat and thought about all the music that we were cheated out of because of Waters ego ignorance.

My love for Waters has returned bigtime since he returned to the stage for the Live 8 concert. Big kudos to Bob Geldof for making this happen
Waters lyrics were/are pure genius
Daddy's flown across the ocean Leaving just a memory Snapshot in the family album Daddy what else did you leave for me? Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!? All in all it was just a brick in the wall. All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
"You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!"
Connie is gone to Florida for a week so i have plenty of time to continue to discuss this thread further with you Doc
Most people do not know that that the majority part of the Animals lyrics were written by Dave Roger insisted that he was credited with Dave`s on the album It is all in Masons book.

yeah man i heard masons book is awsome, i have yet to read it and would love to........waters lyrics are fantastic (pure genius) and david also showed that also too with the later albums when roger left! david even exclaimed on an interview i seen (which ones pink!) that 95 percent of dogs was credited to him, and dogs is a masterpiece in itelf... they all have something awsome that contributed to the "Pink Floyd sound".......they are the perfect mix!

Goodbye Blue Sky has always been my favorite acoustic part played by Gilmour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45LXFFOqHs Roger has kinda surprised me "in his latter years" with his acoustic guitar playing. I am tired and need to go to bed after i load up my new glass piece

It wasnt just waters with a huge ego gilmour wasnt much better, and many see it as gilmour tried to take over the band and change it to his likings, which is not what they were about , also I dont think gilmour was way more talented than rogers at every intrument because roger waters plays the drums, gongs he plays keyboards bass and other instruments as well, and is considered a musical genius by any standard and greatly influenced the pink floyd spund!
but all in all they were a great band and I dont blame any member of the band for anything they didnt give us, I praise them for what they did give us!

I know this thread is fuckin old, but I have so say that my favorite album hasn't been named yet: Atom Heart Mother
Reasons: I had a psychedelic experience while listening it, I can't really explain it, I was in the wood, looking to go near a river while on LSA, and the album just made so much sense... everything was fitting well with the place I was... Since then, it is my favorite.

I've gotta say my favorite is The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Not just to be a difficult ass or an attention whore...I just loved it so much.
Lucifer Sam is by far my favorite Floyd song, and still stands as one of my number one favorite songs of any genre of all time. Certainly in the top 10, maybe top 5.

My top 5 floyd list would be : 1) Atom Heart Mother 2) Animals 3) Meddle 4) Pipers at the Gates of Dawn 5) It would be Dark Side of the Moon OR Wish you Were Here, can't make my decision... Or the Wall too ... they are all masterpieces ... Ummugumma is pretty darn good also, got the LPs
