debt shrinking

so i found out today that while my old apt complex keeps sending me threatening letters about $4300+ i supposedly owe them, they can't do SHIT.
basically everyone in the apt bailed, and the other two people on the lease left the country. so i thought i was on the hook for the whole debt and my credit would be fucked.
the apt complex is a bunch of asshats, they didnt do a proper eviction, they just locked the apt, changed the locks, and bolted up the windows, with tons of my shit in there. wouldnt even let me go back in to get it. then when my lawyer tried to do something they claimed i wasnt on the lease. until now when they start sending collections letters, now im on the lease of course.
but legally it turns out they would have to sue me and get a judgement in order to be able to put a negative report on my credit. and since they were such fuckups when they locked me out, they would not be able to do that even if they tried (and if they wont even file an eviction, i doubt they will manage to get a civil suit going).
assholes are never getting their cash! HAH motherfuckers.

it probably isnt even the apartment complex calling. they have probably already sold your debt to a debt collector and it is the debt collector harassing you
I have several of these myself. Nothing you can do when you are unemployed.
Lucky for you, you have legal grounds NOT to pay
