i have a friend thats planning an outdoor grow. it makes for a bitch to get to the spot and hes wanting to keep traffic down to a minimum for obvious reasons.. he asked me the other day if a bloom fert is required or merely helps with bud production, the thing his hes got several plots and with his busy schedule its gonna be hard for him to get out there and apply a bloom fert.
if anyone could tell me what exactly the effects of bloom fert are, i would appreciate it.
The only real difference between grow and bloom fertilizer is in the proportion of elements. Plants use different amounts of nutrients during different phases of their life cycle, bloom ferts are just tailored to the bloom phase. It is not entirely necessary to get bloom to the plants as long as you use a well balanced grow fert. One option to consider is time release fertilizer. They would require much less frequent visits to the grow spots.
thanks dr penguin! i believe hes using osmocote 5 month time release with a NPK of 19-5-9. do you think it would be sufficient to use through flowering? i assume that hell lose bud size due to not using a super bloom?
I think that might be a bit lacking in P and K. Try to get something a bit more balanced if possible, but I'm no outdoor grower so I really can't suggest any products in particular.
