I am wondering what are some good strains for the beginning grower? I will be growing outside and I am located in the upper mid west.

Everything will be fine. Don't panic.

Afghani is a good old hardy indica that puts out some killer buds. Bubble Gum, and Skunk #1 are also good for a new grower. Good strains with consistent results.

I would say get some good green seeds from your local area for your first time, would hate to spend $50 on seeds & then they are destroyed by abuse, negligence, noobiness, or otherwise.
but specific strains i would agree afghani is a very solid starting strain, then branch out to mango & durban poison. mmm mango

hey man and all you bud connoisseurs , sorry about bumping this old thread, but I'm kinda new to the growery, iv read alot of the threads and this seems to be the best one to post my question on. I need some advice on selecting a few good strains for this spring/summer. I'm a BIG fan of indica and I'm searching for a strain that will give the best narcotic, couch locked, zombie body stone, maybe sleepy, possibly medical effects, and hopefully very high in THC, maybe Even a mixed indica/sativa ie white widow. The type of plant I'm looking to grow would hopefully be short/maybe medium, do well outdoors, guerrilla farming in mind, Hardy, and be a good yielder. The area where they will be grown will be near Lake Michigan, Wisconsin side, it gets pretty hot/warm here during the springs and summer. Ive been considering Northern Lights, Sweet Tooth, Bubblegum-TH Seeds, Afghan #1, Master Kush, White Rhino, Grand Master Kush, Hindu Kush, Hashberry- Soma seeds, White Widow- Mr Nice Seeds, The Black-BC Bud Depot, or maybe if possible one of the med strains you listed: Granddaddy Purple, Purple Kush, Grape Ape, OG Kush. Ive tried growing a year ago, but strong storm winds broke my baby in half so i gave up:(, this year I'm going to tie down to a support stick. Any help on choosing a particular set of strains would be greatly appreciated from you all! thanx:)
