Your garden. Where choice of what, where and how it defines the perfect spot outdoors.

When looking for an outdoor spot to grow, if not your own property, What make a choice selection for a growing site?
What are some factors you decide that must be met before a site is secure?
Are open spots better, or do you prefer to find spots that are tuned to certain period of the days lighting... (for instance, rise, noon, and set)
Some of you live in the mountains, some on the plains, some in urban areas, and some in deep space. If you would, explain in brief detail experiences you have had Good and Bad, Different Terrains, etc... omitting of course any information that is unnecessary, like where you actually grow.
How far have you travelled to get to the right place? (avg. journey, e.g., 2mi into the woods, mountains, etc...)
do you take excessive measures as to not destroy foliage around you but make markers that help YOU know which way back to your site, or by vision memory alone can you find your way through the thicket?
Do you try to have 1 location, or multiple?
Do you prefer sativa's outdoors, or indicas?
or a mixture?
any preferred strains?
Anyone know of any security issues w/ Google Earth?
Has Google Earth been a good provider of locating "that perfect location"? (shit, helps me find some good fishing spots...)
I have grown openly in the woods in the areas of my city, and I am looking to actually travel inland (I live in southern usa) a few counties away where there is more open land & woods. Google Earth is great and i have been using it to help me locate areas of interest and help me with directions on getting there.
I'd like to move nw & grow up in the mountains... Much more exciting of a trip I bet, i enjoy hiking. It's flat where I live, no hiking. :/
From what i've heard, some of the crappiest but most prolific amount of weed made in the USA comes from kentucky & tennessee mountain areas. #1 and #2 respectively... or maybe that's just the east coast?
Would like to some day come out to California & enjoy the weed everyone boasts about from over there. Where I live, the popular KB is citrusy flavored and without idea of strain or origin. Just classified simply as "dro". Find this more often than for instance bubblegum, or silver haze (which I enjoyed thoroughly on 4:20 4/20) and i've always wanted to try Jack Herer & White Rhino

Surrounding vegetation and the color it is at harvest or during the fall. Surrounding veg turns brown then you have bright green plants sticking out like beacons.

All about security.

Open spots are fine if you don't wanna harvest. Under the trees and remove branches to let sun threw if needed.

GPS works good. Never leave signs that you were there. Right down to duct tape on the bottom of your shoes to hide the tread.

both do well if you pick the right strains,.

Nice nice nice. I'm hoping for similar results. Luckily for you, you live in a region w/ mountains. Would seem easier to get to the middle of no where & be able to do things like that, I unfortunately live in the big penis of the united states & it's all flatlands here and the only real marshes left are small, and then the everglades.
are those appalachian/smokey mts from NC?

I'll try and fix up the local soil if it's possiable but in some cases it's just easier to bring in soil of my own. Which is a major pain in the ass but the outdoor places in my pics are in the middle of nowhere so 4x4's can be used.
As far as telling if the local soil is any good look for the same things you would in a soil from the store. Does it hold to much water, to little, to clay like and so on.

Yeah that was a good batch but not a smart one. I'm glad that no planes flew over it, it would have stuck out like a big green light bulb. That one was before I made sure I grew in areas where it was green in the fall.

HELP!!!
I have the choice between two gurella spots this year. One is very dark at night but it is think forest so there is not alot of direct sunlight because of all of the trees over head, the other is alot less dense but is located a couple of hundred feet away from street lights. At night the actually spot is dark (the street lights don't directly shine near or on any of the spot just when i look up their always seem to be light and i can hardly see the stars (i live by a large city)) but i can still see after my eyes ajust The problem is i live in the suburbs and their is alot of abient light from streets lights and the city all around. Does anyone have any experiance with light pollution, i am just worried that at the end of the season the girls won't flower beacuse of too much light. So my question is, What is too much light at night to prevent flowering?
