Religion is an amazing thing. But when the wrong people get a hold of it they take it too far quite often.

Well...I'm the same but religion doesn't mean someone (god) is in charge. Religion can mean whatever you want it to mean.

In some religions we are the masters.
It depends on how you look at it man.
Faith in god sometimes means working on ourselves (the true god) and I truly believe we are gods in the sense that we create reality and are somehow connected to everything in it. We just do not fully understand..

Ganesha
Brahma
Kali
Hindu inspired art is some of my favorite.
Not only is the art cool but the philosophies of hinduism are some of the most interesting I have ever come across. Namely Non-dualism.

Sweet man thanks for uploading some pictures. I like the equality between man and gods, and how the various gods and goddesses have different qualities yet they are just reincarnated higher gods (vishnu and shiva).
Here is a shrine of Vishnu. It's magnificent.
Notice the many avatars of vishnu

Religion is amusing. I bet I'm the only one here who has been owner/admin on a large, ultra right winged conservative board. Damn that fucking sucked. Had to totally belly up and go against so much that I believed in. Only did it because it was a VERY close family member's dying wish. Got the fuck out and appointed someone else as fast as was appropriate. Closest I've ever felt to being something along the lines of a narc.

i have deep thoughts about it when i'm not tripping. it's pretty crazy how far we've come.
i don't think we would be a gods creation though. if anything i think we are a disease.
but me i'm a little weird.

no gods, no masters means you are the master of your own body or soul however you want to call it, "we are the masters" as you so put it. it's just my motto. i wasn't trying saying there aren't religions where someone 'controls' you or you can't be the master. i'm sure there are many.
however, if you are talking about Christianity i have to strongly disagree with you.
that's all i'll say about that. i try not to talk about religion or politics being an atheist libertarian, living in the conservative bible belt, but i do want to leave you with a quote (yes i know this is taken out of context and its true meaning but i still like it)...
"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." - Karl Marx
p.s. i'm not saying religion is inherently bad, by any means. if it makes you happy, do it. it's just not for me. at this point of my life anyways.

The Buddhist Gods look pretty bad ass too. I've been reading the Tibetan Book Of The Dead and its pretty interesting. I really like how they determine if your close to death or not. Some of it makes sense, but lots is too common to relate to death haha.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Atheism is silly to me. It's not on the same level as believing in the deities of a religion but its not too far behind. It may be the complete reciprocal of religious faith yet atheists aren't so different from bible huggers. Both claim to know the way of the universe, yet neither of them can back it up... not really, anyway.
It isn't the most logical way of thinking imo considering the seemingly infinite universe we exist in and how little we really know. And we really can't prove the existence of higher power, BUT, we can't really disprove it either.
Do you not lean towards agnosticism even a little? Just straight up Atheist?

Very true, the only thing I can know for sure is that I exist.
BTW usg543 depending on which school of thought of Hinduism or Buddhism you listen to, they will sometimes teach that everything is God and equally so.
There is an old Hindu saying although I can't remember where I heard it, "Perhaps men are the dreams of the Gods, or perhaps Gods are the dreams of men".
Some dont even believe in God, much of ancient Hindu philosophy is more logic based than anything, I have read that the reason all of the God's and fables exist now is so they could teach the average person their philosophy.
Buddhism is more or less the same way exept I feel it has been less polluted and has not been used for power as much as Hinduism has.

maybe i do lean towards agnosticism a bit..
perhaps there is a creator, the source
but
i've never claimed to know the ways of the universe
you mean atheists in general, claim such things and can't back them up?
surely the actions/opinions of some atheist do not speak for the group as a whole, the same goes for bible huggers

I didnt say you yourself claimed to know the ways of the universe. I was just on about atheistic thought in general. Both christians & atheists, though at opposite ends of the spectrum seem to know what is, and what isn't so to speak, in this reality, and how it all works. Maybe its the more hardcore atheists / theists I'm talking about. The in your face trying to voice their beliefs every chance they get, so fucking sure of themselves. But I'm jus sayin'

not all atheists are assholes.
and even so there is nothing wrong with being on the opposite ends of the spectrum, doesn't make it any more right or any more wrong. if teachers let me get half credit for putting "i don't know" on tests, however, that would be awesome.
but don't ever compare me to some bible thumping christian on the other end of the spectrum, cause i don't force my beliefs on anyone and rarely bring up my (lack of) religion at all. i don't go out and try to convert people, or go on mission trips, or collect money so i can buy more pointless shit. i even had a baptist exgirlfriend tell me young kids and babies in africa or any third world non-christian countries who had never heard the word of god were going to hell. that's just heartless. but you and anyone else can believe whatever the hell they want. whatever makes you happy.
i just stay quiet and mind my own business. it's simply just not for me. i believe there are no absolutes in this world, but even so i'm atheist myself. it's actually a very broad term and can mean many different things.
