A Tribute to My Oldest Piece(s)

This was the first glass bong I ever purchased. It was acquired at Daddy's Pipes on Ventura in the Studio City/Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles, California.
Back then, Daddy's had two locations within a few blocks of each other which displayed some of the finest glass work I've ever laid my eyes upon. Unfortunately their "Museum" store has since closed, and even their original digs have been converted into a medical dispensary. Though they sport the same name, the conversion has resulted in a vastly reduced selection of paraphernalia. Disappointing, but it was cool to stroll by the other week and shoot the shit with a kid who was my age and also remembered Daddy's during its hay day.
Ten years on and I still have this piece, though I only bust it out on special occasions. Too much smoke and concern for my health has led me to use my vaporizer almost exclusively these days.
Have you any pieces of historic proportion that have withstood the tests of time?

Yea, broken pieces are a bum wrap.
This li'l guy was picked up in Isla Vista, CA just down the street from Freebirds 24/7 mexi-join while I was attending UCSB.
The bowl was nice and fat, I dug the color, and by some stroke of magic it would never feed me dirty burnt nug dust!
Unfortunately, after having had it for about five years, it sat on my counter between my friend Graham's beer & the precipitous edge. Well he grabbed the beer, sliding it off the counter top, and though I wasn't looking, I knew what went down as soon as I heard the *CrASh* and itty pieces of resinated pipe dispersed upon my tile floor in a trebelous symphony of dancing glass.
That was a sad moment. I've never broken one of my pieces; alas I can't say the same for my friends!
Oh well, shit happens - what can you do?

This here is the vape that I use almost exclusively at home these days.
While it can take a little while to develop an efficient technique, this thing cuts down the quantity of product used in a massive way when compared to any other smoking device I've ever used. About 1/10th of a gram of high quality product and I'm floatin' away in the perfect high with the added benefit of not having to deal with a resinous coating of tar on my internals.
For anyone who smokes often in their home (or anywhere that there is a constant supply of electricity), vaporizers provide for a stealthy and healthier way to enjoy our favorite plant. I've been using the AromaZap in particular for going on eight years and have never looked back.
Picked it up during college, since it doubles as an aromatherapy device (using the aromatherapy flower shown in the first pic, filled with essential oils) - and therefore is even less likely to draw negative attention if that is a concern for you.
I've tried several comparable units from the Volcano to the Vapor Brothers, and for a personal use product, the 'Zap is hard to beat. However, it will not serve larger groups of people so well, and is not quite as durable as some of the other offerings on the market. So if you're lookin' for a house piece to pass around (or you're plain clumsy), you may indeed want to consider the larger bowled Vapor Brothers or even the considerably more expensive Volcano.

Over my short life I've had many different pipes. Most of them ended up broken, lost, stolen, or given away. The oldest one that I have now I purchased as a graduation gift to myself after college (in may 2005). It's nothing special, but it is the perfect handpipe in my opinion. I think that my next piece will be a vaporizer.

My brother actually broke this pipe. I bought it at Hemp Fest. Hemp Fest is a festival put on the by Students for Sensible Drug Policy here at OSU every June. it's held right on campus and a bunch of local blowers come to showcase/sell their pieces. It's awesome, really.
It was sad to see this pipe gone.

Good taste in beer represented in that photo. Made like a true home brew with the sediment in the bottom from natural carbonation and all. Now that my boy who drank it faster than I could brew it is gone I should get back into that.
Nice to see ya back Tang.

Here's another piece I've had since 2002-2003. I dug the bigass pipes they used in the Lord of the Rings flicks, so I picked up this pipe online someplace. It's made out of clay and decked out with some elvish runes or whatever that stuff was all about (I forget the specifics).
Unfortunately, it's way too delicate to use with any regularity. The clay would crack at the slightest impact I'm sure, seeing as its so thin to begin with, and is hollowed out on top of it. But when you do draw a fat hit, it's nice and cool after traveling the long length (18" or so).

I think it was called a "Tavern Pipe", often used by the Rangers of the North. It's all coming back to me in my superior nerdom!
