Would it cause any problems if I wrote a program that would retrieve messages, new posts etc...But make it so people still come here to post back and what not. I doubt people would use it anyway, but I know for me while I'm at work I like to stay active but I cannot have the growery open on my desktop and have someone end up seeing it.
But if I had a small program that minimized in the system tray and popped up "1 new message, or 1 reply to so and so" I could stay more active.
Just curious. I don't see why it would be a problem...If you have any concerns about your advertisements I can still make the program visit the site...To give you the member visit.
I don't know that I'll do this but if I get time I will.
Is there any concerns with me doing this??

I can't see how having a program read the site is any different than doing it yourself.
Don't know about you, but I really don't read the ads much, and certainly don't click on them. Once in a while, I'll click a funny eBay one, but just for the LOLs.

Well...I don't need them to see me browsing the internet a whole lot either...I have done it but I don't can't be scrolling through them and click on another one etc etc...But if it were in the bottom I could just scroll through them in the little program and then hit a couple of keys to hide it quickly.

i remember on overgrow there was a work-friendly text-only version of the site so people could read up anywhere they'd like. maybe this could be a possibility for one of the admins to make.

I wrote a small program last night it obviously isn't done yet and has some ways to go to do what I want...But I got it to read the RSS feeds for the site.
It's a step in the right direction.

I posted in there that I would. I mainly am limited to html and java...Which is really all he would need other than the php scripts etc...I can doa l ittle and figure some more out but he we could get boards that are already make...It would be easier and more realistic.
