Just a heads up that KillerPicklez will be assisting with the moderation of The Smoke Lounge. ltd has taken an active albeit very easy approach to this forum, and frankly I feel that it could use a little more moderation. If we wish to attract an intelligent member base, we ought to provide an arena for thoughtful off-topic discussion. Given KP's private communications as well as his general activity level here at the Growery, I feel that his assistance in management will help keep this forum welcoming for new members.
While I can understand the desire for unmoderated discussion, I don't want that to be our primary attraction. What I do want is smart and intelligent members who are able to contribute their vast knowledge to our community and thereby help it grow. If all we have are one-line zingers and our largest forum that serves as little more than a chatroom, it will be very difficult for the Growery to become a respected online resource for cannabis information.
So I'm asking you all to welcome KillerPicklez to the staff here at the Growery. I have asked him specifically to help reduce the proliferation of flames and vulgar racism in this forum, so please don't give him a hard time. Having spoken with him privately, I believe that he will be receptive and respectful to all our members here, and that he will act with restraint but will nevertheless take action when necessary.
 
With that, I invite you to share your suggestions as to how we can make this website better, increasing both its database of cannabis information as well as its exposure. If we're ever to relinquish our "beta" title, we ought to have a clear strategy and focus for the future.
Thanks for listenin', let's give KP a nice warm welcome.

the lack of a comprehensive grow section i think may have to do with the newness here. i know that i dont really go in the grow section because 1)nobody really posting there, 2)when i have a tough question nobody can usually give me a good answer, and 3)there's not a history of threads to search for information.
i think one thing that might be good is if we had some sort of way to encourage people who do know their cultivation and botany stuff to start posting more, throwing up DIYs, FAQs, guides, etc. I know that i want to but it seems like the cultivation areas are so low traffic that it wouldnt be worth my time spent typing it.

But you're giving up before you even tried! When you consider that this site should be around for decades to come, what's the harm in being the first to post well revered information for the masses? If your topics are good and informative, they will likely survive for the ages either by being bumped over time (in the forums), added to an archive (such as we have in the Shroomery's Cult Forum section), and/or posted on the cultivation wiki (main site).
In fact, the main site is where we are in the need of the most information - as that will be the initial draw for most new users who decide to register on the forums. You (and every registered user) has the power to add or edit documents placed there for public view. If you create a great document, no doubt it will become a part of this site's history and inform countless marijuana enthusiasts for years to come.
