Drug war fought on network TV?
    #182618 - 01/15/09 07:34 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

Do you think that the drug war is being fought on shows like CSI crime scene?? Is the government paying these shows to bring problems in to light and scare people?

I ask this because this new CSI mentioned Salvinorin-A, and it would have never mentioned it in the past up until the government is trying to ban it. They said something like:

"GHB, some other chemicals, and Salvinorin-A could render someone to not be able to fight back and be raped or whatever..."

I have never seen someone have a hardcore experience with it and not be able to move or fight...Most of them get real defensive and could probably kick some ass if they were provoked.

Your thoughts?

Paying for embedded anti-drug messages in television shows

In 2000, the Federal Communications Commission, in response to a complaint by the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, sent inquiries to five major television networks about ONDCP's practice of offering millions of additional advertising dollars to networks that embedded anti-drug messages in their programming[13]. The House Committee on Government Reform's Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, Drug Policy and Human Resources held hearings on the matter on July 11, 2000.[14]. In December of that year, the FCC ruled that the networks should have identified the Office of National Drug Control Policy as the sponsor of the television programs. [15] [16]

Government as Scriptwriter

In the spring of 1998, the ONDCP began to develop an accounting system to decide which network shows would be valued and for how much. Receiving advance copies of scripts, they assigned financial value to each show's anti-drug message. Then they would suggest ways that the networks could increase the payments they would get. The WB network's senior vice president for broadcast standards Rick Mater admitted, "The White House did view scripts. They did sign off on them -- they read scripts, yes."[17]

Running the campaign for the ONDCP was Alan Levitt, who estimated that between 1998 and 2000 the networks received nearly $25 million in benefits.[17]

One example was with Warner Brothers' show, Smart Guy. The original script portrayed two young people using drugs at a party. Originally depicted as cool and popular, after input from the drug office, "We showed that they were losers and put them [hidden away to indulge in shamed secrecy] in a utility room. That was not in the original script."[17]

Other shows including ER, Beverly Hills 90210, Chicago Hope, The Drew Carey Show and 7th Heaven also put anti-drug messages into their stories to cash in.[17]

I have and like I said in an earlier post I could completely control someone several times my weight with one finger. He went there willingly though and couldn't have been tricked into it without pure salvinorum which is not easily available.

A small bit of distorted info by the media designed to bring mass hysterical anti salvia view points.

We underestimate humanity sometimes. Yes, a majority of idiots may believe everything they see on T.V.
Fuck 'em!! They are usually the more socially inept ones anyway.

My point is, there will always be the minority that raises questions about authority.
Do not fear, comrades.

I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

I always figured this is what they did, considering the amount of bullshit you hear on these programs.
Cheers for the link though, it always nice when stuff gets backed up with a source.

^yep!  it is.  otherwise we might as well believe what we just saw the network tell us about salvia.  I didn't see the show and your talk here has sparked my desire to catch it.  I won't though.  lol.  there's enough bad information to go around on tv.

you can grow your own salvia and make very strong extractions with a simple acetone wash. I bet a dab of 400x salv-a would be more effective then nearly lethal doses of GHB. I'm not into the date rape scene though.

reminds me of a family guy episode where peter is bribing a guy in a 50s diner for the copy of "SURF IN BIRD"  vinyl and he's like, " Well, i'll let you have sex with my daughter! " and the other guy goes " Well, maybe, whats she look like? "  so he looks around and the camera pans over to Meg, and then you hear peter go uhhh nooo.. hmm... and then a hot chick @ the bar and he points and goes "right over theeerrrreee" he said "Yeah, ok... Just uh, could you ask her to squirm around saying stop stop no dont?"

peter then goes

"I think it can be arranged!"

lol

I'd like to see a tek for making anywhere near 400x Salvia with only simple acetone washes. I guess it may could be done if you completely ignored anything resembling any sort of efficiency by wasting many times more salvinorum than is captured.
